Yeah, I had the same thing. If there was a clear popup for "research completed" which forces you to pick a new one before closing, this problem wouldn't be there.

Bleh, it does work up to Twilight of the Arnor if you unzip the right files into the right place. You do need a registry file to add the necessary paths etc to your registry but it all works perfectly here now. (Win7 x64)
Mm.. I have to add, only Dread Lords works this way. I can't install the addons, presumably because some registry settings are missing.. Guess waiting for Stardock to update Impulse & their installers is better.
Hi there, Just managed to install GalCiv II on Windows 7 by bypassing Impulse. I managed to get into the game and play a turn, haven't tried any further (other stuff to do today). The game complains I don't have DirectX compliant drivers (I have an ATI) and then says it disables DirectX, but runs fine, and seems to be using DirectX anyway. It's quite easy to do.
