Not sure why people are so concerned with what the masses might think. The game is already 'released'. You and I are playing it now. They are working on the bugs. They will keep working on the bugs. They will release expansions. Why does it matter if it is 'released' officially? Will you somehow magically play it any more or less?

Is it possible in a Multiplayer game for the computer to beep to alert me that it is my turn? Or perhaps admit a pleasing odour? Or have an arm pop out of the top of the monitor and smack me in the head? Or some other non-visual clue?

Another curious fact about galaxies in general, and the milky way in particular: The Milky way has a diameter of between 100-120 thousand light-years. It has a thickness of about 1000 light-years. So a map of our galaxy that was 100 by 100 would be flat. In that the time to move from one square to another would be the same to traverse the entire thickness.

There is no such thing as a 3D map. What you could have is a 3D Map projected onto a 2D Surface (your monitor). Which adds all sorts of needless complications. Since the viewing surface is 2D, it simplifies things greatly for the map to also be 2D. When monitors become 3D holographic images hovering over your desk, then a 3D map will make sense.

I seem to recall it was easy in the last GalCiv to change the range parameter yourself. In the XML files. I did do that, and had an enjoyable game where bases/planets were needed to extend my range.. However, I see no reason to inflict my idea of fun on others....let them be free to change the parameters themselves.

You don't really have to maneuver if your weapon has range. And any weapon you want to put on a fighter, I can make more powerful/better range and put on a ship. And protect that weapon with heavier armour/shields. The same inertialess FTL drive that is suggested to make a fighter more maneuverable also applies to ships. So my ship can act like a great big maneuverable fighter. And it doesn't hav

I always thought it strange, the idea of fighters in space. The reason fighters work on Earth (or a planet) is they travel much faster, and can carry weapons that can hurt the ships that they are hunting. This does not apply in space. In space, the ships would travel faster and have the stronger weapons. A closer analogy would be if submarines would launch frogmen squadrons to attac

I noticed a '?' next to the name Mining Base in one of the documents. Perhaps the name "Extraction Post" would be better?

I would go so far to say that a nation's morals are usually quite different then the basic morals of it's peoples. There needs to be some sort of benchmark to base all this evil and good on. As Ash says: "Good, Bad, I'm the guy with the gun."

[quote who="Stormer9742" reply="5" id="3430505"] Quoting 00zau, reply 4One idea would be for the research victory techs, at least the last few, that take forever to research, give massive civ bonuses, with the tech victory one giving the hugest of all, so that researching them even with tech victory off is a worthwhile choice. I mean, you supposedly transcend the universe, that should be worth a huge bonus. Maybe researching it will lock out anyone else from researching it, so even in a
