just a thought but depending on the level the ai is set at they may just start with more techs then you. while the goal of the game is to have the ai play by the same rules as you right now the ai's not there yet so to make it competetive on higher levels the ai gets bonus techs and bonus's to research
i agree that trade is one of the weak points in GC and ive been toying with dufferent solution based on a pyramid scheme style trading system for the system i envision generating trade routes each planet would have the capability of sponsoring 0-2 trade routes(outgoing) based on planet class (loosely tied to planet quality),but could have any number of incoming trade routes. profit and maintenance each trade route would provid
so far i cant get past turn 55 or so but i thought the morale system was to weak in beta 4, so the fact that people are saying something about it means they are looking at it on the other hand i like large maps and large empires so ill have to see how it goes when i get to late game
What i generally do is save soil enhancement and use it to compare with the other techs this way i can upgrade the level 2 and level 3 tiles without Waiting but it means i hold off on soil enhancement till i can get the last terraforming tech other the The 1 tile anywhere one
As for the second planet i have noticed that as well i thought it was just something because i colonize the 2nd planet in my home system
Planetary invasion is an age of war tech in order for you to get it you need all the prerequisite techs for it and have enough age of expansion techs unlocked to advance to the age of war
I dont dislike the current system i thin it could use some work mainly when you select a terraforming improvement all tiles should be colour coded to what level they can be improved to.
Or barren planets/ adaptable , the dense racial ability?
i dont know i was just wondering if the custom races are being checked as a file if they are and your file is not the same as what is being checked from Verify Game Cache (which it wouldent be) then it would show up as 1 file it was just a thought
yeah something they added in b5
i would also like to add my 2c first a comment this system has the potential to be good, its just not there yet second another bug possibly the constructor requested is always pulled from the nearest starbase, not the most effective starbase. if i have a starbase sitting 10 tiles away with 1 item in que that will be done in 2 turns. and another starbase at 5 tiles with 50+ turns of military orders . the constructor will be ordered from the shipyard
i think the question is can a custom faction be designed with its own unique set of ships rather then just copied from other ships and you should be able to do this however it would require some modding and some of the tools i dont think are avaialable to us yet (but i really know nothing about ship design) i think they mentioned that they want to do this but im not sure when they are aiming for with this
I'm not going to respond to all points, but some comments:
super abilitities the advantage for synthetic is that you dont need to build farms thats like 3-4 free tiles on each planet. on the other hand many of the ideology choices for colonization effect food/growth and many of the planet bonus's also effect food/growth these are completely useless for synthetic races and i would like to see a

im able to repeat this by loading a saved game from inside another game
ha, maybe. but it still doesn't make sense that i can build farmland in canada, which is mostly icy wasteland. or three whole hexagons in africa
why not ? Saskatchewan produces 10% of the worlds exported wheat. how does it not make sense to build farmland in canada?
Ahh I see so if you take just the adaptable(non Yor) you can do barren...Yor can do all 3 or if you take their tech tree...hmm
almost the yor dont get barren from their tech tree they get that from the adaptable trait so if you have the yor tech tree without adaptable you can currently do aquatic and frozen at start
Another option would be to allow ships stationed at a starbase to transfer to a planet if its being invaded this could be seen as a reaction move and would consume remaining moves from the previous turn
I was using constructors with 8 modules in my last game
As stated in the Dev streams this is working as intended and Paul showed that this would happen several weeks ago. With some of the abilities, such as the one the humans get, you could just have all your planets support one shipyard, which could be very bad for balance reasons.
