You can hide the hex-lines with a hotkey. Default 'G', for ToggleGrid
while a good option i then just have to turn them back on as i zoom in id love it if they just disappeared at a certain zoom level but that might be annoying to others
androshalforc
ive been thinking recently about hex lines and how some people (myself included) have been asking for region/sector lines currently if you play the larger maps and zoom out it can get pretty messy with hex lines (which at the furthest zoom become a mesh mess (these should fade out as you zoom out)) and just general clutter one option would be to be able to toggle things much like you would on the minimap toggle anomalies, planets, stars, rally poin
SO MAKE IT AN OPTION
man if they granted options for everything that was asked for an option they would need to change the name of the game to OPTION SIMULATOR 2000 make it an option to have the economy slider make it an option to have multiple starbases make it an option to have hot seat make it an option to have shipyards on/off planet make it an option to use old/new assem
i used 4 gigs up until just recently (upgraded just about everything and havent had a chance to play on it decided to wait till B6) i could play up to immense maps and would usually run out of memory about 6 times in the first 100 turns after that it would become stable for another 100 or so turns (all in one sitting) and then become pretty much unplayable
i usually play a custom synthetic race with the AOE techs for starbases added in i go malevelent for the homeworld manufacturing bonus then get my homeworld up to where i can pump out a colony ship every turn and complete the assembly project every other turn..... i use the colony ships to scout out planets and colonize pushing my range further and further *as i side note i reduce ship range down to -0.20 from the like 2.8 modifier it normally gets
I created a constructor using a huge hull that had 13 construction points. Combined with the Pragmatic perk that doubles construction points (26 total), I could finish a starbase with just 2 ships. Not sure if you meant this to be possible.
shhhhh thats the only thing keeping me from shoving my keyboard through my monitor due to constructor spam

I originally posted this way way back in beta 2 i think and came up with the cunclusion that the projects should add to modified wealth/ research rather then raw and still feel that would solve the majority of the problems it would still mean that you would specialize planets but they would no longer get so overpowered and manufacturing would take a less prominent role on specialized planets
1) Tools to eliminate late game bogging down of constant build orders ( constructor spam) 2) communications with the AI particularly player talking to the AI often we will get messages about our ships being in the AI's territory or the AI asking us to remove starbases but we have no way to do the same.
What you guys are forgetting (unless they changed it AFAIK they havent) is that the projects take manufacturing and convert it to research / wealth at a 4:1 ratio and this research / wealth gets added as raw what this means is that as soon as you get over 300% manufacturing bonus it becomes more effecient tu run your specialized planets as close to a 50/50 split in buildings as possible ( some of the building bonus's are a little skewed for
In GC2 you can pay another faction to go to war with someone
what would be nice is if i could have an ill pay you to destroy Unit XXX (specific ship/starbase) dialogue option either with the pirates or with another race
Perhaps 1 thing that could be done to cover expanding and contracting boarders is to have "in territory priority". So if you have SB's from different factions in the same location and all are within range to harvest particular resources, then the SB that is in home territory should take priority and only that SB will harvest the resources.
except i could build a starbase to mine a resource in my territory trade it
mining is for resources like durantium, antimatter, etc for mining you use mining ring and its various upgrades. not to be confused with relics which usually have a name like economic relic or culture relic. for relics you use xeno archology lab or whatever its called and its various upgrades. right now there seems to be a bug that minor's can hijack your resources as in they place a starbase there and just take it over that seems to be
i went and looked for everything including resources techs racial abilitys and even looked what kind of bonus's the ai got on different difficulty levels even if i made a couple of mistakes my estimate was ~40 range it should have had and ~ 80 was the distance it was traveling. if it was 45 or 50 i could go hrmm maybe i missed something but this was at least double its range. and with the minors also seeming to ignore range as others have said i wouldnt be surprised
Unfortunately i cant provide a save as i have reformatted recently i noticed that the ai seems to either ignore range limits or has an unlisted 100% bonus to range i was playing an immense map * i changed ship range in mapsizes globalcombatmods to -0.20* i had an AI freighter reach one of my planets the planet was at least 80 tiles away from the nearest ai planet/starbase and after checking the freighters specs and race mods / teh mods &nb
Disclaimer. I have no artistic ability and no experience with the ship designer i dont even know why i opend this post. That said i seem to recall the devs saying something about you being able to take a bunch of parts and you could make them into a single part somehow. I assume you would then be able to just place that one part and set it to rotate.
lol funny story it is somewhat related i used to go larping and my first time out i came up with a character and my name got turned down i quickly had to come up with a new name and since i was playing starfox earlier that day i blurted out Andross. halforc was the characters race and has been my screen name since
however sometimes "if then" statements are needed to make sure the Human player does not exploit the AI
but wouldent an if then statement lead to exploitation of the ai... IF player does A THEN do B that means i can plan a counter for B then Do A triggering B forcing the AI to fall into my trap

"in every one of these 4x games it seems like late in the game it bogged down, i just get um endlessly having to give build orders to things right and we think weve nailed that here" constructor spam .. definately nailed it [e digicons]:P[/e]

Will there be a possibility of a maximum number of turns before first up meeting right bow i believe you need to meet x% of all races in the galaxy i would love to have a check that says if it hasnot happened by turn 100 then it will happen now
