Hi, I have a problem with DA. Basically i have just updated my graphics card drivers to those from lapto2go.com. And the game is running reaasonable smoothly except for these black outs. Every few turns the game will go black and for a minute or so it will stop responding, the after this it will begin responding again. This is not too bad as it does seem to work. However it is very irriating, not only this but it seems to slow my laptop down. Taking almost 15 minutes to shut down and 5 minutes t
One of the things i would like to see as an improvement is the AI ablity to accept defeat. For example in my current game on a huge galaxy am have been at war with the Yor for the past 3 years game time. In that time I have crushed fleets 5x the size of my own(superwarrior rocks)and taken 15+ colonies from them. They have had no significant victories. Yet the AI will not accept a peace treaty unless I offer them half my empire. I don't want to fight the Yor as my ethical enemies grow stronger. <
I am a Christian, not an aethesit but I can understand why you are Aethesits. I blame the American Church, it goes out of its way to be confrontation and a pain in the asses. Jessus said to use that he sends us out like sheep into wolves. or something to that effect, in america it seems the other way round. The main reason I thing the American churches, does damage to themselves is because they are literalist, not fundermentalist. A fundermentalist believes in the fundermentals not the
I find the Ai uses starbases all the time, I play the game on normal/challening(depending upon how much effort i can be bothered to give the game) and on Large maps. I find that they uses all of the starbases. Though not very effectivly. I have seen them build miliary starbases miles away from any planets- not entirly sure why this would be a good idea. Similarly they place Influence bases next to their home planets, which again i don't understand. Though they do seem to have a good id
But in other cases I like movies, the problem with them however that I like SciFi and there are not many of good SciFi available and that is present sometimes primitive or childish or unfinished. Which is why books are better, because without the depth of written prose, it will appear childish. Hell after reading a good book, watching any sci-fi- even the most acclaimed- feels childish. Even when your your watching things such as Babylon 5 and (the firs
I heard somewhere that the rights to MOM had been purchased by stardock. I think i read it a couple of years ago. Does anyone know anything about this? MOM was a proper fantasy turn based strategy game, far better than its lame subsititue HOMM and Age of wonders. Though both are brilliant games but neither were a scratch on MOM.
Their is another thread, with a similar problem i would suggest you check it out, https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=357&aid=156809, you could also check this very good FAQ which helped me out when I first started. http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/file/925349/41935
Reading is very important. Because a book is so very indepth and presents ideas in a much more intresting way than any movie. For example Dune, the novel is infinitly more intresting and fun to read than the movie. Hell I haven't seen a good movie in the last 2 years. The same could be said for any novel.
My favorite races in DA Are the 1.Torian- and their super breeder ability as it speeds the game a heck of a lot and you never ever have to worry about population numbers. 2.Thalans- because of their cheap factories 3, Terrans- because the super diplomat is basically all the diplomat super abilities rolled into one.
I agree with space dogfighting thing, though i'm not much of a fan of Wing commander, as have never played it- in england it is so damn hard to get hold of any space sims pre-freelance. One game i started playing recently, is freespace 2 this game owned. And even though it is now very dated, I play it and instantly i recall my old days(when i was about 7) playing Descent. As for the diablo front, Blizzard for reasons unkown <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smile
I am still having errors on DA where the game will stop responding. ONLY the ALL powerful Ctrl-Alt-Delete. I am running a hp laptop, with vista and nvidia geforce go 7400. On HP website and using driver detective says that my graphics card is up to date. Though i haven't downloaded the driver suggested in the header of the article. Is there any difference/ is the hp driver differnt from this driver. I've tried editing the video prefernece- ingame, and running it in xp serivice pack 2 c
What i would like in GC is a more detailed game map, with more astronmical features, because at the moment the map is a bit bland, though the game rocks. And though you have the major features, Asteroids, planets, stars ect. Perhaps inclussion of Moons- perhaps an additional habitation space Novas, and supernova clouds- clouds left over from a nova or supernova as these things take millions of year(?) to disperse(could effect the working of ships or something). Nebulas- really just
Hi. Though I haven't read any of the above, hey its midnight and i'm struggling to stay awake. I have a problem with GC2:DA. Every now and then, usually when something big is happening, signing a peace treaty, new tech, colonizing a planet. The computer will stop and go no further, none of the buttons will work, on the interface or off- bar the all powerful ctrl alt delete. I have just bought a new laptop to play this on and it has vista on it, this is the first time i've used the might
Dudes, I was wondering there was a way i could replace the music for this game, i only like the war music- and only slightly then-. However i would like to replace all the music with Holsts' planet suite. Do i just paste the mp3 and rename them to the old musics one, and if so which peice of musice is placed where- for example when is war 00 played differing from war 01. Anywho if you could help this noob I'd be very gratefull

I am having huge amounts of difficultly downloading GC2, i did until recently have a copy on a cd but the serial code printed on the front of the disk was false, thanx stardock, so i bough a copy of GC2 and its DA the only problem is after using Stardock central to registor both. Yet they have not appeared as availble to download. Infact they are not there at all have i just wasted £35, CD copy, and the two download copies, for a game that i have no way to download. Please help
