And btw, I really, honestly think that hippy's piece looks a bit 'flat'... probably see the depht of my piece as I created it and know in what the idea behind it is.

NT, that is indeed the compression of the .jpg file. Thats the small price for not using gradients. The file wasn't saved at its maximum to keep the file size low.

NT, I dont see ANY grain... you know what grain is I hope? I use a 19" iiyama and have also checked it on my 15" lcd screen.

True hippy however, the metal plays a part in the highlights. Sure you managed to create a 3d feel to what you produced but I still think it has the 'photoshop feel' over it. The thing I just didn't want to have. However, I have to say you did a nice job

hehe, Could be just me but check: The images both at the same size. My skin has a soft polished metal feel over it, hippy's has a bit more of a plastic feel. Lets just keep it to this, IMHO my piece is far out better, better quality etc, but ofcourse, I can't give a reasonable opinion as I am the creator of it. And yes cerebroJD, it needs more bevels etc, just a quick preview.

yes sylva, thats true, but what if the side where the blue area is is thicker... for example: Like this the parts would catch more light because they are further to the front... (3d)

What about the light is from the front? A large part of the skin is rendered and after effected in photoshop. I think the light gives it more depth of view as it seems that you are looking at the front of it... anyway, as long as I like it right

Mike, you should know better then to think that are gradients... try create the same effect with gradients... not a chance And yes Dwatson... think so too

Jafo, I think (or atleast I hope) that you understand what I mean. Very often there is no 3d effect in windowblind skins other than a small bevel. I will try to put up some images to show what I mean asap... however... scroll trough the library and you will see very little skins that have the 3d feeling.

Never seen the skin jafo but is sure looks good. But then again, also looks like a photoshop 'product'. I wonder why no one ever tried to use a 3d program for creating WB skins... Or created them with photoshop but then in a 3d style.

No jafo, this isn't an announcement of something new of me that is comming... or atleast, I haven't started it yet, I was just wondering why there are so few 3d skins. I feel a bit that the skins from pixtudio and skinplant have a bit too much of a 'photoshop feeling'. No offence, its just the style. If you compare them to some skins of TSF you can clearly see the diffrence between the 2d and 3d style. (again, no offence) I will be putting something togheter this weekend I think. Just need to finish some jobs and then I will have (finaly) some time again <

I love it. Atleast its out of the box. It gets a bit anoying to see the same startbutton at the same place under the same menu... sure they have a new 'skin' but I think I want mine to have a new frame

Very often I find myself wondering what the big diffrence is between things like windowblinds and windows media player. Its not hard to see that a lot of WMP skins use a lot heavier graphics then WB skins. (note, with heavy graphic I mean 3d style). I think its the custom shape of WMP that makes it more suitable for heavy graphic skins but wouldn't it be awesome to have a little of that 3d feeling being put in a wb skin? Brad, its very easy to bash other software instead of promoting your own... and the diffrence between freeware and non-freeware probably is the quality. If you buy your software from people who are working on it as their full time job it is not that hard to understand that the quality might be better. The admins are all anoying you and just because they feel so, they are not going to authorize your skin. it has nothing to do with quality, they just want to **** you off. 2. The admins happen to have bumped into some real live situations and with dozens of uploads a day they just cant keep up with the flow. It can take up to 5 days until y
