Remember when you bought a game at the store, took it home, devoured the user manual ... [e digicons]:typo:[/e] [e digicons]X([/e] [e digicons]
Okay but the fact is the concepts are so old and/or seen elsewhere so much that writing it up again

so guess what, spacefreaks, Paul opened a new game in GC3 and searched about for his favorite exploit the Promethion Reserve structure, only to learn much belatedly it's key tech was CHANGED from orbital whatchamadoo to Resource Extraction. For a while I thought I was going blind when I saw it not where it used to be. I saw the changelog too, and this change was not mentioned. Was it thought to not be significant enough? I mean it isn't like you're

I enjoy your profile icon Allerick, and your can do attitude. On this question I've gotta say, devs, what were you thinking? lordy-oh, what could it be? was there ever a ai created colony you took that DIDN'T have durantium- or promethion factory erected in that singleton tile off at the poles somewhere?? Oh! and what about your class 7 with

This is base game 3.0. As the title suggests, and to duplicate go into edit at race selection, then for example copy the altarians, then back up and copy the drengi and you'll see that the drengi tech tree is set to altarian tree.

Civ 2 took the last game and maxed EVVVERYTHING and was a multimedia phenomenon. There will not be another like it, and you can take that to the bank. You asked what made that series best Triple_Crown, well 1 word: civilopedia. Think about it, if knowledge is power, what better way to put the power at a player's fingertips! I think they veered off quite a bit beginning with civ 3, by making everything just a tiny bit more complex. IIRC the challenge level of Civ

How tricky would it be to generate a text bulletin if an allied faction has just obtained a tech? I think the new flashes at the side are a convenient place. With imptc set to medium & high priority for purposes of display? Preferably make it configurable so that post install of the mod, I could pick and choose what techs to be notified for (hulls, obviously... other vital game-rocking stuff I can't think of off the top of my head). This is useful to not waste research when one ca

The first pgph has got it backwards, customer support was never a moral issue. Business is the art of hot scamming. We choose to think of it as win-win because why not if you can support that claim? I mean you aren't being forced to be a consumer, yet you consume. As do we all. So it sounds an awful lot like win all around. But I'm savvy to what the underliers actually are. My decision-making doesn't always go by existing relationship. There's times we all had our closest friend tell us somet

Make distribution right! Your planets throw military production in the dumper. In the dumper, if there isn't a starport. How about adding that to the list in Stats? "Amount thrown into the dumper: ####". Because I expect it to be a 4 digit integer value over the course of any game. Not theoretical - confirmed. A place with a nonexistent military sector will not retain production for social projects. Your options reduce to: build no ships</s

Hey Rhonin_the_wizard , I want a race management technical page. If possible I needs 2 know how to limit race inclusion in randomized opponent games! For instance say I made a copy of a race w slightly changed abilities to use, and of course I can't erase a default race. Fighting a mirror of yourself is the height of boring to me. @ de

Hi AdamMG, thanks for trying to be helpful! It's nice when people take the time. You didn't manage to convince me quite that SD is unaware of the answers but I went and played a game specially to go and solve the puzzle : The influence how-to

Hello, and thanks for looking. The blasted wiki password system broke when I tried logging in just now, which is too bad because I was gonna try to contribute to this project. I spent time figuring stuff out which I guess I will just post right here, but I'm unhappy. It isn't just that a representative of the game's design team should be doing this work, not I. but I made this document in the hope that people with '?' over their head will lose their ?'s. much of w

I like the way you think Triple_crown. [e digicons][/e] the idea itself's awful, but I'm on board and so should be everyone! naw, actually there could be a way to attain something akin to that description. perhaps, instead of 26 resorce types, craft each of the existing types a few variants, for ex, Triple bond durantium, depleted Elerium, Megacharged anti-matter... FAKE-durantium! Ludicrous stellar geography isn't something which I personally fe

I don't want to sound like a complainer, but from what I can see of the new resource model a couple issues spring to mind immediately. The early game colony grab. People should rly be given a warning. A serious heads-up, with shoulder shake. Thanx to settlement populations getting hogtied (unless you can come up with a quasarload of durantium), that 5 base raw production is like GOD. Here is the problem: I picked habitable planets-uncommon. So yes, I had two colony ships making

I tried heading to http://wiki.galciv3.com/index.php/Influence today. The page... does not exist. Am I like the only one that's bothered by that? I'm sorry to say that territorial progress is NOT intuitive in this game for me. Or maybe my brain is just that feeble: I don't see how x influence per turn is allotted to galaxy tiles. There are SO many questions that would be good and should have good answers within this narrow topi

After laboring through a couple games of Master of Orion 4, which I'd recently acquired, I have this to say about 4x game diplomacy: There's been no progress in over 20 years. Not... a trickle, not a crawl, but... nothing. I'm actually forced to give preference to the old-old skool weenie leaders of yore. Uh, yeah I see the menus have 2x or 3x more depth to them, but only I, the player, even have the option to use them all; and half of them have no effect. To illustrate, going back ag

You got something called an imagination, my man? I figure that 2 out of every 3 of my colonists never see their 5th year. They get shredded by razor rain, or eaten by some sort of mouth-tree, or forget to blink every 6 hours when the mirror lens on the moon swings the sun's reflection like a laser across their cityscape (frying their irises & making it far more likely they'll succumb to the mouth trees). I'm not sure any of that is in stardock's animation budget, but guess wha
