In fact if its a memory issue I say leave it the way it was but put a disclaimer that you need 16gigs or more of ram or stability issues may arise.
It only takes 8, actually. I regularly ran high than standard density on Insane maps before this build, and that part didn't give me trouble. It was just slow, and now that is much better! <a id="ctl00_ctl00__Content__Content__RepeaterReplies

It may be my low-res settings, but when I try to design ships, it is very difficult to see the whole ship. Technically, this is because there is no fill light in space: all of your light comes from a single source with nothing to diffract it, so areas in shadow are completely black (rather than just dark, as on Earth, where natural reflected light fills in the shadows). Changing the gamma correction isn't much help, since the contrast is so strong that the light areas become too washed ou
Don't like this option making the game smaller this far after release is like a slap across the face.
While I don't take it quite as hard (mostly because I intend to walk this back through modding), I agree this is an undesirable and confusing move. My pea-shooter laptop which has earned the derision of nearly everyone who hears of it could handle an insane map with the number of objects tu

First, this program is excellent, and I very much appreciate your efforts! Thank you for this amazing tool! Second, to answer your earlier question, I would prefer fewer, bigger updates, but Syrkres makes a convincing case for more smaller ones. I'll gladly take whatever you can do . Third, load times have increased significantly since the last version I had (not sure which it was, sorry). Tech trees used to just pop

I have a dual-core i5-3210M @ 2.50 GHz with 8.00 GB of RAM. I wasn't expecting much improvement in speed, because it is only a dual-core. However the AI's turns take VERY little time. The computer is cycling through them every 3-4 seconds on an insane game with 50 factions! The whole turn-change time has dropped, and may be as low as half the previous time. I imagine that multi-core machines are really blazing! Thank you again, Stardock! The bad news is
It should be an option which can be turned off, and then it should fill-in the default name even when renaming.
I am not positive, but it appears that the code now keeps the name IF you named the ship, and otherwise defaults to the automatically generated upgrade name. At least, that is what it just did in my game: CCS SWAC Mk I 1 was upgrades to CCS SWAC Mk II 2 ten turns ago, but CCS

I would really like it if the upgrade interface (both the governer and the specific ship popup) gave you the TOTAL cost of upgrades as well as the individual cost. I would also like it to inform you if your planned upgrade is going to take you below 0 credits (possibly by turning red?).
They need to add a lot of features to the factions in Stardock before this comes around as it's too much of a pain for nexus.
I am not sure I agree about Nexus. That site has been pretty easy for me to use, and most of the factions on there just drag-and-drop into your Mod folder and your Designs folder (the latter annoying). Certainly NOT as easy as Steam, though, if that is what you meant. I do agree (if

Let me know if you'd like more information (no naked ladies although some female characters).
Seilore, I have almost all of your factions, and I was specifically thinking of them for CFS. Most of the factions on Steam are less than perfect cosmetically: the text is halting or ridden with typographical errors, the narratives sometimes make no sense, images are often undesirable or generic or cut out very poorly (VERY poorly), and you cannot add new colors or a shipset (yet). The few factions on Nexus are generally better, and I know there are some others floating around (I raided the minor race contest winners). However, as I have written elsewhere, it would be very difficult t
Starting around the age of war, I want little civilian ships to begin spawning from my planets carrying this and that to here and there. I want to be able to see where they're from, where they're going, what they're packing, and what effect, if any, it'll have when it gets there. Supplies for a starbase? Immigrants? Consumer goods, medicines, grain? Fertilizers shipped from a manufacturing world giving a 10% boost to food production a
My beef with nebulae is that they mask vision out of themselves rather than vision into them. They would be much more interesting if they, and asteroids, concealed ships, objects, and stations from view unless occupying an adjacent hex.
I very much agree... Nebulae and storms should block line-of-sight!
I think they should keep nagging you about it until you declare war just to shut them up. It is a different approach to AI diplomacy design, but obviously, the beginning stages are working on you already. In long games it is a chore to go around to 50+ factions and assure them all you are committed to your friendship every 20 turns or so. I would like it if you could go from the 'Let's Talk" screen for one faction to the next faction's 'Let's Talk' screen without two of the three mouseclicks you need now: Close faction 1's 'Let's Talk" screen Go to new faction Open faction 2's 'Let's Talk" scre

I'm afraid exelsis is correct, that is a programming thing, not something encoded in the modifiable XML files. However , you might be able to get the same effect: you just have to find the part of the XML for each weapon and defensive component that controls the 'type' of weapon. I suspect it is the bold item here: SingularityDriver

I am in a game now where, every 10-20 turns, one particular faction asks me to remove the same starbase. They aren't willing to go to war over it, and I'm not willing to remove it. I think that, after asking once or twice, the AI should either decide to attack, accept that I am a jerk and lower their opinion of me, or just shut up and succumb to my will.

If all resources are going to be global, there needs to be a way to blockade planets so they cannot receive resources. Also, should population be global too, travelling back and forth on starliners? Maybe population should 'flow' towards worlds with higher morale. This might make entertainment buildings more important, since even if morale is 100% you'd still need to keep colonists from moving back to the established worlds.
Yeah I never rename things, so this would get annoying. It should be an option which can be turned off, and then it should fill-in the default name even when renaming.
That would be most helpful for people who would rather have the automatic codes. Also... it would be nice if fleets weren't renamed too. But I am very happy to have this!

I have previously asked for a popup to name ships when they are launched. This is obviously going to be too much for large empires. Instead, it would be cool if you could name your ships while they are still in the production queue. That way, when they were launched, the announcement would show the actual name of the ship, not the automatically generated code.

I am SO glad I've been documenting my mods, because I think almost EVERY single setting I've changed has been fiddled with here. But this is excellent, and really the sort of thing that made me such a fan of Stardock. Note the time stamp on the original post... Frogboy was working late for our gaming pleasure!
