It is in the mods folder. Changes to ShipComponentDefs.xml and a few others are all working as they should. It's just the planetary improvements that aren't changing, even though they are in the same folder with the ones that are. I have restarted the game multiple times, heck I even tried rebooting the whole computer by still no dice.

[quote who="Horemvore" reply="1" id="3716290"] How do you expect some one to know what the problem is with: "I've been trying to make a few tweaks to planetary improvement stats, but none of my changes to improvementdefs ever appear in game, even though alterations to other files will." ? No explination of what you changed, no code posted so we can see what was changed. No info on how your modding. No info on what version you modding. Basicly no information what so ever.<

Hi, I've been trying to make a few tweaks to planetary improvement stats, but none of my changes to improvementdefs ever appear in game, even though alterations to other files will. Does anyone know what could be the problem? (this is on Intrigue btw) Thanks all.

1. Better and more transparent fleet battle system. (Weapons fired per mount instead of per ship please) 2. More racial tech tree differentiation 3. Economy changed to something closer to GC2 that doesn't require such extreme specialisation of planets. (ie. Pop -(taxes)> Credits -(planetery improvements)> Research/Manufacturing instead of the Pop generating everything directly and the multiplicative nature of improvment bonus with pop + adjacency making specialisatio

I think the economy was actually much better designed in GC2. You set a tax rate that brought in credits based on population and modified by the econ buildings on each world. Higher taxes caused lower morale. You needed to plow credits into production and research each or those buildings didn't actually do anything. It was a simple representation of the government taxing people going about their civilian jobs, causing a degree of irritation to the populatio

Limiting specializations is pretty dumb. People are saying they they introduce decisions and tradeoffs to the game which are needed for a good strategy game. Except they don't. In fact, the potential tradeoffs involved in picking techs were actually GREATER before this change. Previously you had the option of focusing really hard in a small number of tech lines at the expense of others. Now everyone is forced to be average across many tech lines. For example, previ

Let's see... 1. I would like a way to snap the camera back to the default angle. 2. A way to sort the planets list would be appreciated. 3. It should be pointed out the the player whenever their automated explorer/survey ships find an inhabitable world. Inhabitable worlds that aren't yet colonised should should also show up on a list somewhere for easy finding/reference. 4. Survey ships on Auto-Survey don't ask for confirmation before

StarDrive 2 has good way of dealing with this. One of the factors in diplomacy in that game is "Diplomatic Tolerance" which is basically a cap on how much diplomatic activity can be exchanged between a pair or players over a given period of time. Once you've depleted your tolerance with another faction you need to wait a number of turns for it to regenerate before you can make further deals with them. The better the relationship between factions the faster it regenerates and the more of i

[quote who="trims2u" reply="19" id="3482832"] We're drastically underpaying for those huge ships here, and I understand why: because otherwise, star fighters would be practically useless in the face of even medium-sized ships. Think about this, if GC3 used something even approaching realistic values for mass: Tiny: 1-10 tons Small: 11-100 tons Medium: 10-50,000 tons </p

Hi, Just bought the game and the UI text doesn't display. I get a message on startup complaining about not haviing DirectX 10.1, which is off given that I'm using Directx 11. I'm using a laptop with a Radeon 6630M GPU. The laptop manufacturer hasn't provided updated drivers since mid 2012 and using updates directly from AMD cause the GPU to shut down entirely. Any suggestions for how to proceed?
