I'm having a similar problem. Most of the text is showing up, but not all of it. For instance, I can see the text that should be there in the screenshot you've taken just fine, but I can't see a great deal of text on the following screens or when I get into a game. My install didn't hang and the only stability issue I've had so far was when the game defaulted to using the integrated graphics chip rather than the graphics card. At the moment, it looks like this:

Yeah, the trend towards digital releases is more than slightly problematic if you don't have a decent internet connection. Not a huge amount you can do about it, unfortunately.
This was, unfortunately, exceptionally underwhelming which is a bit of a shame. Given that the alpha is only a short hop away I'm not sure why they're being so evasive regarding some answers; are they holding back on detail in order to push up the value on the pre-order? Alright, thanks for clearing that up. Doesn't change my pre-order either way but it is a little unfortunate that they're not providing the capability to run the game without Steam active in the background.

Quick question about Steam and I apologize if this is answered elsewhere but is Steam being used as distribution or drm? There are some games which use Steam to distribute but allow you to launch and run the game outside of the interface, the majority (if not the entirety) of Paradox's games for example.
Although I prefer the older Altarian figurehead this one does look rather more alien, which is a good thing. Why ye thought it was a good idea to have such a radical change and keep the same leader though is a head-scratcher.
