I'm getting that problem in a campaign mission I think, 1.2 I know something like Laser V but can't place anything.

ok, N/M, it just worked... I didn't change the file or anything... wierd.
oops, didn't say what happened. I go to a screen that says it's 'being used by another process'.
I submitted my avatar (personal icon) successfully, but the larger version of it (yes, 150x150) won't upload for the 'personal photo' area. it is a jpg, so it should be compatible- shouldn't it?
I do that a lot at the beginning, as soon as I research 'space weapons' my Apothess design becomes available as I used particle beam and Ion drive, which I usually have by then. with some speed they're good for harassing undefended ships, and later on I stick on some defenses- whichever type the enemy seems to be using most- and use them for combating smaller ships. they get totally owned by anything remotely useful though, I don't use much defenses as they cost a lot and I usually don't have mu
I think I might have a similar problem. I don't see any textures on my ships. I see the hull/trim color fine, but there are no textures. I don't have 'disable ship textures' selected in options, and I just installed the Nvidia drivers mentioned in another thread here. Is thers something simple I'm not doing? (it seems as though that's always the case)
alliances are quite useful against AIs who cheat. I've noticed that colder relations won't even give you, say, Starship defenses for Doom ray. (a hyperbole to make my point). But this brings something up. I've noticed that those at war with you (who, I would think, should have an embargo on everything but diplomatic stuff) won't take a peace treaty, even if I surrender to them. And I mean that literally- I gave them all my planets (including a class 22 gem!), all my techs, all money and influenc
Greek myths for me, no labeling. I get to know my ships better that way. for instance: small colony ship with Impulse drive mk III: Charon VERY fast scout with good range: Mercury or Hermes any big bad ship with lots of weapons: something that equates to 'devil' advanced freighter: Poseidon I may or may not start using designations like GTF- Galactic Terran Fighter, and same for cruiser, corvette, destroyer, and so on. naming system taken from Freespace. a lot of na
well, it just installed to ...Galactic Civilizations II/GalCiv2demo or something like that, so I just deleted that folder. The game now runs: I downloaded the Nvidia display drivers a few threads north and it now runs. I posted there as well. Work is now underway on a game example of mine (after I learn to play of course!)
YES! GalCiv2 now runs on my comp. THANK YOU!
I was planning to do the exact same thing, once I get the game up and running. If you want to, I don't see why you shouldn't, unless you have a problem with typing a lot or taking/ posting screenshots. any level of skill is ok to write one of them, they're also useful for strategic feedback.
ok, I downloaded what was apparently the update (1.2) and it installed the demo. the EXE I dl'ed was Galciv2_120_bonuspack_071806. is this the right file? edit: um, I purchased the download a few days ago, that's how I got the game. Is it already v1.2?
'bout to do that, just posting to say the problem persists with the full game. I SO long to kick Dreadlord butt!
build defense. from the look of it you don't have _any_ defense- but it probably doesn't show what's around planets. design a cheap ship with very good defense (HP and armor mostly) and some attack, but keep it cheap. mass- produce those around your planets. If they are defended already, go for something a little more well-rounded (with some speed and sensor range). That's a basic plan that pops into my head, haven't played GalCiv2 yet just going by GC1 strats and common sense. c
I opened it with notepad and all it says is: debug message: version 1.2 beta 2 last updated on: fri jun 2 19:51:16 2006 doesn't seem like an error message- Same thing it's said when I've opened it before. Could I be missing crucial data because of Notepad or is that even possible?
OK, I want to kick some dreadlord butt. Or at least destroy a few evil races. Either way, I want to use some ingenious creativity in the ship designer and rule my people with an iron fist! but I can't . OK so to the bug description: I start the demo game. I go to the menu and look at all the cool additions. I tweak a bit, set to 1 opponent on fool (I want a quick, ez game) and then prepare to kic
aaaah thanks SO much. email activating now so I can kick DreadLord butt.
um... I did activate it. I plugged the drive back into my mom's comp and activated it normally. it successfully activated, then (naturally- my mom's comp is ancient) complained about all sorts of graphics issues (desktop color, display drivers). I put it back on my comp, and got said error message. however, I do not know what sig.bin is. Is the file you mentioned(the one stardock sent me) sig.bin? should I still delete it? I'm going to move it to desktop and post what happens.
OK, I purchased the download from Stardock and downloaded it to an external HD. Once I plug the HD up to my own comp, however, I get this error message: The product appears to be validated but the product serial number or the machine ID don't match. so.. how do I play it? to clarify, my mom's comp has internet and mine is (maybe) able to play GalCiv. So I used an external HD, thinking that would be the only way to do it. is it something I'm supposed to do, or is there
um, i don't mean backwards compatible as in fitting into the slot, I mean is there something like an adapter for it?
good should get its own type of bonuses, like to trade or morale, whereas evil could get military or something. evil would still get more though, i like that theme in GalCiv. I was also thinking of some other type of bonus- not to research or economy or trade or anything- but basically, 'good'. other good races would be inclined to like you, maybe even offer alliances(does that happen normally? never had it happen, but haven't been playing long) and neutral would like you as well. Of co
crap. umm, is there something so a PCIe card will work in a PCI slot, like an adapter? PLEASE tell me I didn't order a ~$200 card- still to arrive, been only one day- only to need a different mobo. BTW, hi, new here, 'bout to get GalCiv II. loved Galciv 1, still do.
