If your laptop GPU has its own memory then its not as big of an issue. However most laptop GPU's share system ram. Especially laptops that use Intel GPU's. I was wrong about my new laptops GPU. I thought it used up to 1.7 gigs. The specs say it can use damn near 4 gigs for video memory! So yea i need that 2nd 8 gig ram chip soon!
Major Stress
My solution was smashing my old laptop that had 6 gigs of ram. Well i didn't really "smash" it. The laptops demise was coming, and i had plenty of warning. I had to get a replacement until i can build a new gaming rig. Now i use a laptop with 8 gigs of ram that has a free upgrade slot, and it will get that extra ram soon. On the old laptop Gal Civ 3 would hard freeze. Even on tiny maps with only 1 opponent. I would task manager the game, and was shocked when i saw it was u
For Intel GPU users the min specs say HD graphics 4000. My laptop has the HD 3000 chip. I was hoping it would work, but unfortunately i was not so lucky.
Yea i hear you... Time to upgrade.
I also have same issue. However my laptop is running a crappy intel HD graphics 3000 gpu. Everything else meets, or exceeds min specs. All drivers, and direct x up to date.
Its an i5 2450M cpu 2.5 gigs. 6 gigs ram, and an intel graphics 3000 gpu. DXDIAG says it is DX 11 so i assume it is DX 10/11 capable. which games use dx 11 anyway? I think many games still use DX 9 to this day. I know my laptop is kinda dated (for computer standards) I bought this last year, but i was hoping to get some extra mileage out of her before resorting to spending quite a bit of money i may not have to build a new gaming system. Though that day is coming. Just hoping it will
Yea, Yea, I know stupid question. I am just asking because i have a crappy i5 laptop with an intel graphics chip. It runs 64 bit windows 7, I am wondering if GC3 will run (even if its low settings) on my machine. If not i guess its time to build a new box.
GC2 since Dread Lords had default ship designs that unlocked once you researched the techs required. The ship designing aspect was one of my favorite things to do in GC2. Though as of TotA you can chose to let the AI "auto upgrade" your designs for you. I would hope that SD keeps this mechanic in GC3 (plus the option to auto upgrade). I couldn't say much on ways to improve upon it, because i cant really think of anything. Since i am all psyched about GC3 i am gonna play me
Take my money NOW!... Oh wait, I have no money now :p But i am so there when i do get it :D
