Thanks. It turns out that's exactly what happened, and now I have found two fleets I thought I had lost.

I know invasion already has its issues, but has anyone encountered the problem when you invade a planet with a fleet, and the remaining warships in the fleet disappear after a successful invasion? I can circumvent this by separating individual transports from the fleet before invading but recently I forgot, and the entire accompanying fleet seemed to have disappeared afterwards.
