Started a new game and everything is fine now. Too bad for my old game, was just about to start steamrolling the galaxy ;-)

I'm 415 turns into this one, finally starting to kick ass... hard to let go!

This is from a game that was started in Beta 5.3, don't know if this happens with new games too: Planets, suns, asteroid fields, resources and starbases are hardly visible anymore when zoomed out - they are black now, don't feature the faction color. Am I supposed to start a new game after each update? I'm playing on a decent machine (i5-3570K, 16 GB RAM, 780GTX, Samsung 850 pro SSD, Win8.1), insane map size and get a CTD after only one turn every time I load the game. This game was started around Beta 5 and had a couple of updates since, that is why I'm asking. So - everything looking good if it wasn't for stability! &nb
