well, uhh... did you happen to read that this thing has the same amount of power as the big bang??
That's complete gibberish, the energies involved in this experiment are an insignificant fraction of an insignificant fraction of the energies involved in the big bang. The big bang set the energy budget for the entire universe, after all.

In other words, find something else to worry about.

Some of the LHC guys have been receiving death threats from the tin foil hat crowd. It's sad when ignorance of science reaches such a fervant level, especially over something that is no real threat to anyone.

I don't rent games at $50 a pop, they can have my money when they remove the retarded 3 install limit. And if I play ArmA and the Sims then does that make me some kind of hermaphrodite in Aractain's universe? Personally, in my world, we usually judge gender by genetics and genetalia rather than entertainment habits :D.

My big problem with fee based games isn't the fees themselves, but the design decisions that invariably accompany them. A fee based game isn't about giving the user the most enjoyable and entertaining experience, it's about finding a way to keep them playing for as long as possible. Fee based games, consequently, are more about wasting your time than filling it. WoW's a perfect example, really. And I adored Guild Wars, but it's really an action RPG that you happen to have to play onlin

Honestly, from a personal perspective, I kind of wish the thing would just fall into obscurity and disappear. I can think of no worse use of any great game developer's time than an MMOG, and no worse use of great talent for strategy game design than an RTS. This has all the disadvantages of both. But that's just my own game preferences, of course. MMO games are a plague on the industry IMO.
I think the acquisition probably has to do with Gas Powered Games....Brad has been pretty chummy with Chris Taylor lately and they are working together on Demigod. Hopefully after Demigod, they can take Supreme Commander to the next level.
Blech, no more RTS's please. 4X TBS games are SD's strength, I'd really prefer they stick to that arena as much as possible.

The DS is packed with Rogue-likes (Izuna 1&2, Shiren the Wanderer), Wizardry throwbacks (Etrian Odyssey 1&2) and deep strategy RPG's (Rondo of Swords, the upcoming Fire Emblem). In a lot of ways, it's the last bastion of some hardcore genres. This criticism of Nintendo, frankly, makes no sense to me.

If you're a Wizardry fan (as I am) you might want to check out Etrian Odyssey 1 and 2 on the Nintendo DS. They're the best old school party based RPG's since Wiz 8, with all the challenge of the old games plus the requirement to draw your own maps (in game). Very cool.
Depends on the difficulty level. At some point the AI players are cheating (economy bonuses and such), so I'm not I'd give them that much credit. Depends on the level you were playing.
"Tough" difficulty is a fair game. Above that the AI gets advantages. I don't know about you, but "tough" is more than sufficient to kick my ass. This game has some of the best AI I've ever seen in a computer game.

Etrian Odyssey on the DS, a true successor of the old Wizardry and Might and Magic games. Tough as nails party-based dungeon crawling in the old school sense, I can't recommend it and its sequel highly enough.
Does the SoSE forum share the same off-topic area as GC2?
Yup. It gets very confusing at times, because while a lot of GC2 players seem to realize they're cross posting, most SoaSE players don't. These days I only read the GC2 forums, because I'm still playing that game while Sins is collecting dust, so it's interesting to occasionally be reminded of its existence.
Considering that GC3 will probably be based on the fantasy game's engine, the chance for beta input from linux testers will be then moreso than during GC3's development.
Thanks for the correction, kryo.
If Linux proponents wanted support, the best thing they could have done would ahve been to join the beta in significant numbers so that they could have helped provide us with feedback. Then we could find out how much effort it would take to make it work under Linux. But at this stage, it's way too late.
This is very much worth keeping in mind for GalCiv 3, folks. It's clearly too late for GC2 on this point, though. Oh and FB, let me just say that some

Printed manuals are worthless for games this deep and well supported. It would give you at best a cursory overview of features, half of which would be invalidated by the next major update. You can take the cost of shipping up with Stardock, but a manual wouldn't be worth the paper it was printed on. If you really object, the simple choice is not to order the physical copy. SDC makes it easy to run your own backup to disc, after all.

It should be stated more clearly, this same thing happened with DA and I'm a little surprised that in the wake of that TA wasn't marked better. I can't fathom why people care, personally, as the last thing I need is another PC box to store or toss, but there it is. Any regular SD customer, though, should really have already known TA wasn't getting a retail release, so of course there'd be no box or printed manual.
