I'm pretty sure Master of Orion's trademark belongs to ATARI INTERACTIVE, INC at the moment. Registrant (1997): Microprose Software; LAST LISTED OWNER: ATARI INTERACTIVE, INC. Concerning Master of Magic it's... strange... The record shows (APPLICANT) Nival Network Limited Russian Federation. Note that it doesn't show "Last Listed Owner" but "Applicant". But, frankly I don't know what that means.

Great news! And, what a team you have now, with so much 4X gaming expertise [e digicons][/e] Can't wait for those announcements on what you guys have been working on and what you'll be in the near future. Will you be announcing titles soon? :)
Absolutely. Civ games were and still are the best strategy games ever. They also changed my life. In fact, that was the main reason for doing what I do these days, which is mostly read, talk and write about 4X games. Thanks Sid for so many years of excellent entertainment. Live long and prosper Sir, so that we can have more of these wonderful games. So, Brad, I see that Sid also changed your life, thank god for that (GalCiv2, Sins of a Solar Empire and more 4X games to come ...).
I mean, if you have the The One Game already, why are you looking for one that is shinier? Why aren't you playing The One Game instead? Why don't you go play Diablo 1 instead of playing the new Diablo3? By that line of thought you could have said 15 years ago "Hey, go play MoO! Why do
@DarkGaldred Are you excited about the new X-COM being made by Firaxis for example? If so why aren't you as excited with a MoO sequel/re-make possibility? If not I can understand better your point.
First of all thanks to the OP for creating this thread. I also grew up with Master of Orion. Can't really tell if I prefer the original one or the second installment, certainly not the third. If you look at Brad's Stardock Customer Report 2011 I think you have part of the answer of why he's afraid to buy MoO from Atari and make a sequel, or a re-imagined version (it didn't need to be MoO4, could be Master of Orion Universe or another name). Brad
I'm not sure about the full 3D aspect (is it really that important to you? Isn't 2.5D sufficient?), but your answer may be not in the past but in the near future. You have the following titles to look for in the coming months, that somewhat match your requirements: Legends of Pegasus (4X, strategic TBS, tactical RTS, screenies look great) ETA:May, 29 2012 StarDrive (4X, RTS, alpha looks very promising with some absolutely gorgeous graphics) ETA: Q2 2012</
It's well known by now that this is Microsoft's business strategy for windows. Bad, Good, Bad, Good, Bad so that you can sell Good again. Win 95: Good Win 98: Bad Win 98 SE: Good Win ME: N/A Windows 2000: Bad Windows XP: Good Windows Vista: Bad Windows 7: Good Windows 8: Bad Windows 9: Good Etc... And we will always shut up and always use what they put out.
I didn't play Elemental. One of the reasons being, the very bad reviews. And I even posted about it in my blog (twice), because it was Stardock's, fantasy and turn-based strategy. As I never played it I'll give you my feedback on other things you did GREAT (I'm sure you know, but it's always good to receive extra praise I think). I'll also give
#9 "Last year we made a game that was a disaster (...) But my job, as the business owner was to get out in front and accept responsibility" 1 sentence that says a lot about yourself. Probably more than a full biography would. Thanks for your thoughts on this, as a business owner myself I already recognize some of what you've said. I especially agree with #7. That's the main reason there are very few successful business owners, bec
A question befor I'll buy one: * Are there random elements and how many - I love randomness. * Can I create my own race, add my own graphics (jpg inject or so), create my own ship models? * About automation - what automation would you suggest for the low intermediate player (for the first 3 games for example) - I playes GC2, MOO2&3, SOTS and similar but I am wondering if I could set the autos so I
Sorry, one last question for those in the know: - What is the late game like? I ask this and mean the following: I rarely play a TBS game to completion, and it bothers me. HOMM3 was the closest I could get to a "good" sense of closure; in most of the other TBSs I have played, I find the late game problematic for the following reasons (if you want, you can see my threads from 2 years ago on my ideas of how to rescue L
I get paid for my hobby, or for my work? I can't tell anymore :)
@Cauldyth I know, I was just teasing zigzag :) I know what he means. I also didn't like playing DW vanilla. RotS (and now Legends) fixed most of my issues with the game, and I know that many other people's also. But of course that may not have been enough for everybody, and I respect that.

Well, who wants to seat by the beach all year? Kinda boring no? :HOT:
You give the anwer to your question. "Heck, I don’t even have a salary anymore but yet I love to work ." You like what you do. You're not insane, you're only part of the 0.005% of people in this world that like what they do to the point of doing it without earning money. You need a money base though, and that's where the problem is. If everybody would have food, shelter and minimum heath care assured there would not be 0.005% like

I just finished my review of Distant Worlds: Legends . For the ones which are not yet familiarized with Distant Worlds (which I doubt will be many) Legends is Distant Worlds' 2nd expansion pack. Distant Worlds is a 4X space strategy game of the same style as Master of Orion 2, Galactic Civilizations, Space Empires, Star Trek BOTF among many others 4X sp
Game Idea for Brad (Stardock): How about Master of Orion IV in a couple of years. I think this is a complete no-brainer. Huge fan base, huge crave, no marketing need. I eard some time ago that Stardock acquired the Master of Orion rights from Atari, is that right?
Moo2 was not the holy grail, Moo was. Though I agree with adam, DW just didn't have it for me, and though I bailed long before the expansion, I could not get excited to try it again because the first brush just didn't do it for me. Which is odd, because I liked Moo3 (after user patches and mods) and I like the idea of automation and playing at a macro level. DW just wasn't fun or engaging, and the fact that it has thos
Here we go. @the_dingle
But some things, like the fuel system and private sector I think are polarizing instead of just flat out bad. I didn't like it, but I'll make another shot in the expansion review.
Comparing it to MOO3 though
