I like the Unclean Beast. In the beta I played the Rook first, then when the Unclean Beast is available, I chose it immediately because it looks so cool. Maybe I'm just weird. :)
My own IP router is a fairly old 3Com OfficeConnect one, and I was also having trouble connecting to other people, even with port forwarded. After read Monk's guide, I found two points which enabled me to complete a connection after fixed them: 1. When using robust health potion (the big one), the graph is not correct. Normally the icon should be red when drinking the potion, but in the case of robust health potion, the icon is completely obscured by a red circle, which looks like alpha blending is not enabled. I'm using GeForce 8800GT with 177.92 driver.
I have the same problem, although the reason is very likely to be GPU overheating, because I opened my case and the heatsink on the video card is, well, way too hot to touch. By the way, I use NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT. I'm using the "powerpack" driver from NVIDIA's website, which is 177.83. There is a newer driver 177.92 there and I'm downloading it. I'm also downloading nTune in order to check the GPU temperature. Does your laptop happen to have NVIDIA's GPU too?
