1) Push the TURN button 20- 50 times without doing anything to give the AI a head start. 2) Edit the XML files to make it as hard as you want Gigantic galaxy on suicidal with everything set to abundant is sufficiently hard enough for me (extremely challenging but with a possibility of winning) Cheers, Superconductor

Hi Crusher: I could not agree more. A robust editor is the only thing that could upgrade this from a **** game to a ***** rating. I am always amazed at the maps / scenarios people are able to create with a good editor. Cheers, Superconductor

Don't be evil UP vote is to balance the advantages one gets when choosing the evil route on the colonizing phase. Cheers, Superconductor PS I do not care for the UP vote myself. I can't remember it being of much use when I do win a vote (which is very seldom) but usually bad when I lose the vote (even though I normally play Neutral).

I like liveload's suggestion to have a confirm function (could be optional) re you sure you wish to end this turn" {Ok} {Cancel}. I have pushed the end of turn button several times by mistake when leaving the colony management screen. Very annoying especially since I never reload (except after crashing, obviously, but that has become very infrequent as they have stabilized the game alot since it first came out <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/BigSmile.gif" bor

I think you should be able to create any size map you want up to the max your system will handle. I love incredibly huge maps that take a couple (or more) weeks to play. As it would be optional, it would not affect those who like quicker games or those who do not have the system to handle the computations. Cheers, Superconductor

Bug in battle calculations? I had a huge ship as built Beam 42, Shield 18, Mass 64, Armor 15 my huge ship + bonuses Beam 113, Shield 42, Mass 174, Armor 35 (Weapons 114%, Defense 133%) Enemy ship with bonuses Beam 83, Shield 0, Mass 0, Armor 15 Even though I should have had a big advantage, the enemy ship was actually out damaging my ship 18 to 16 per turn. Why would this happen? I am also still experiencing the Out of Me

I can not understand why those who want the game (AI) to be harder just don't go in and change the XML files. Just boost several or all of the attributes of the opponents (and/or set all yours to 0) and watch your butt get kicked. Or even easier, just push the Turn buttom 50 or 100 turns (on Suicidal, only takes a couple of minutes) without doing anything else and then see if you can catch up. I used this method to make HOMM3 maps harder when I had mastered the game but still enjoyed playing.<b

I used freighters for the first several games I played and it was not worth the time and resources. Better to put your effort into other areas. I hope they strengthen this area in the future so I can make it a part of my strategy again. Then again, I always play on Macho or harder so the level of difficulty may affect the value of trade. Although it would take more processing power, it should still be an option for those of us who love super large maps. One of the best things about Civ 3 was the ability to play incredibly huge maps ( I used to play 300 x 240, or 72,000 squares). Why not leave the decision up to the user, they know if will know if the have the horsepower necessary. Cheers, Superconductor

I like gigantic maps. On Macho or harder. But I find 3 opponents is the most challenging. They tend to concentrate all their efforts in the direction of your empire and not worry about each other until later in the game. If you have more opponents, they start stealing resources and planets from each other instead of concentrating on your area, making the end game easier for you. I must admit I was surprised the first time I played a gigantic map on suicidal. I had played a

I apologise for the tone of my Fix the (expletive deleted) save file entry. I could have made my point much more diplomatically. The DEV team now admits it is a bug (and not deliberate as some have stated) so progress has been made. It is something they will correct in the future and that is a good thing. Oddly enough, my latest crash pretty well convinced me it was a bug before I even had read the responses to my initial entry. One of the AI players had built a Galatic Wo

Still no response from anybody on the GalCiv team about the save file problem. The only time I reload a save game is after GalCiv crashes (which seems to happen for many different reasons, all of them related to game bugs and programming issues in GalCiv itself). This would not be a show stopper IF the save game loaded properly. But no, you get ripped off of a production / research turn. This is inexcusable. I have heard a couple of references that this deliberate. I could see that being poss

The save reload had better be a bug!!! (As a retired Software engineer, I would say it is a serious problem, your save files should never be corrupted). The only time I reload is when the game itself crashes. We should not be penalized for a problem the game creates. Cheers, Superconductor

I bought a pretty good one for 100 dollars from ebay. 256megs video memory, PCI slot (128 bit). That will probably handle all the new stuff for a few years anyway. Hi Frogboy: This is my third attempt to get help from Stardock on getting the game to run. My submission to Stardock Technical Support (Ticket ID: MYX-802264) was over a week ago, I have received no response. I submitted an entry to the Forum topic STICKY:Getting the Game Running (entry #92 and #93) a couple days ago and have had no response. The game CTD's as soon as I try to play: I have the latest update from Stardock command MHere
