I've been asking for a hotseat option since GalCiv2. Hotseat was explicitly mentioned in the initial FAQ for GalCiv3 but then was disappeared from their design goal list (and likely still is in Guantanamo). At this point, I don't think they will implement it, because Brad, who always hated multiplayer in any GalCiv game, seems to have an explicit grudge against the feature.

My vote for hotseat multiplayer as well. If you already have PBEM mode, there is no good reason not to implement hotseat multiplayer.
I'd ask the developers to keep the asynchronous turns or at least provide both that system and simultaneous MP as options. Asynchronous turns are necessary for hotseat multiplayer, one of the features I really, really, really want to be implemented, either at release or via patch/expansion/DLC. Simultaneous turns have been a bane to that playstyle for years in 4X games and have been cited my multiple developers as the reason why they could not add hotseat multiplayer to their games (Endle
I also support hotseat multiplayer, as do a lot of my friends who are MOO2 veterans. I am more amenable to buying 4X titles without it (and have been sadly disappointed with lots of them the last years, to be honest), but for them it is a vital feature which determines if they even will give a new 4X title a second look. I think the developers still underestimate the snowball effect of the people who care enough about the feature to post on this forum. If hotseat is included in GalCiv
While I will still probably buy the guy (although I'll certainly now look for a cheap deal, instead of pre-ordering or buying at full price), no hotseat is a no-buy criterium for a lot of my friends, who still remember very well the many enjoyable hotseat sessions they had with Master of Orion II.
I suggest adding hotseat.
Still hoping that the devs come to their senses and re-implement hotseat into their multiplayer model.
They had mentioned in the FAQ that they wanted to implement it, but then they quietly pulled that line from the FAQ and, as quoted above, suddenly said that there were no plans to implement it. So, yeah, not really impressed with that move. [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
Pretty much that. Well, we'll see if the developers will address the topic again. I hope they noticed that hotseat remains a requested feature.
No. I don't think that is a very good way to play multiplayer, I would say yes to PBEM more than to a hotseat option.
... You do know that it's basically the same way to play multiplayer, only that instead of sending a savegame per email you have the other person who is sitting at your side take the turn immediately? Right?
Hotseat multiplayer is the one thing I really wish for, as for the rest I trust enough in the developers to make an excellent game, like GC2 was. Maybe make the economy a bit more intuitive, though and reduce starbase spam. ^^

Call us old fogeys, but we like to get together, sit at the same computer and shoot the shit about stuff while people take their turns. It's not even that we get to do that as often as we'd like, but it's having the option that counts. <br /
While I think that the depth of tactical combat MoO2 had became tedious when you got to pilot 40 deathstars around, I'd love for a multi-round affair where you can give the fleet tactics. I'd especially like a "withdraw" option if the combat isn't going well for your fleet, the "all or nothing" combats of GC2 lacked that element of being able to break things off. I'd also like hotseat multiplayer to be added back to the promised features.
With respect to the hotseat mode, I imagine that is a feature the development team could implement quite easily if there is sufficient demand. Unlike with major game companies, there are opportunities for players to influence game development at Stardock.
Twice burned, thrice shy is where I am coming from. Who says, it's a cut feature? Couldn't it be, that hotseat MP was never a planned feature, and that mentioning it in the FAQ was due to a misunderstanding? Why always assume the worst? Why not wai
Well, let's just say that I am suddenly happy that I am so broke that I couldn't afford a founder's package at the moment, let alone an elite one. I feel gipped. :-/

Yeah, the endless micro'ing to build a ring of starbases around the quadrant with the three or four industry planets was excruciating. [e digicons]X|[/e] But necessary to get out some of the big ships for a sizeable fleet. I'd prefer if GC3 would skip that bit of tediosity.
Sorry, I got sidetracked the last days. This is great news and will probably sell the game to a good number of my friends. Around our gaming table this evening there were a lot of "Finally!"'s and "It's about time!"'s from them when I looked your link up. :)
Alright! Galactic Civilizations III is on its way and this time confirmed with multiplayer! Yay! [e digicons][/e] But since I well remember how many people pleaded for some sort of hotseat implementation in GalCiv II (and there was a way by cheat to at least somewhat approximate that) and how we were then told by the developers that it would be impossible due to how the games code was built, I'd like to ask from the start of the development cycle to
Also, hotseat multiplayer would be great.
