What I love about Stardock and their design teams is their honesty and transparency about the GalCivIII roadmap and the business of designing games. Brads posts are insightful, thoughtful and read as a conversation. As a founding member I still feel it was the best $100 I ever spent. Happy Holidays to the Stardock team and thanks for the update.

Greetings all, as the originator of this post, I wanted to reply and say I can now get it to launch. My new system runs a Radeon GPU. Keeping all things the same, after updating to the opt-in GalCiv beta build, nothing changed - still crashed. I then dug into the Radeon software and turned off the video capture software. The game then launched and I've been playing since yesterday. This worked for me, but it might be something else for others.

I'm having the same issue. There is a thread in the support section I started called Launch Crash with brand new systm If you are having similar issues with not being able launch the game, please reply on this thread and on the one I started. The more people who report this issue the faster it will g

Update: I deleted the GalCiv install on the Intel 480GB SSD and moved it to the 240GB Kingston M.2 System drive. Same thing happens: Loading screen then back to the desktop.

This week I built a new system: Intel Skylake i5 6600, Asus Z170-A MB, 16GB HyperX Ram, Radeon R9 380 graphics card, and a 240GB M.2 Kingston Predator chip to run Windows 10 and a select portion of Steam games. I added a 480GB Intel SSD for media files and larger Steam games. I installed GalCiv 3 on the Intel SSD FYI - the other 2 games, Civ5 and Civ Beyond Earth are on the 240GB M.2 drive. When launching on Steam, the game loading screen appears for about 7 to

I would love the dev team to post something about the recent balance pass on the research trees with their view on the matter. STS80 has a great point about the defensive techs still being the same - I've seen a similar approach to the AI building ships and getting stuck on single techs. I started a new game with the Terran's and focused on several specialized research planets to the exclusion of production and the economy, moved the governer slider almost entirely

I have read through the posts and I can see the value of the higher hull build costs. That said, the communication around the somewhat massive shift in research costs wasn't highlighted anywhere. For a regular casual player, revisiting the change after the 1.2 update felt like a total bug. I'm going to hunt for the release notes to see if I skipped over it. In my most recent game the Dregin had medium hulls within the first 100 turns and when I went to

Playing as the Terrans and have noticed an absurd jump in researching the Zero Gravity Construction tech. In my current game with a decent amount of research centres built and all the other techs taking what seem like normal amounts of turns, Zero Gravity seems to have been broken in the update. Anyone else?

Just wanted to report an unexpected crash while playing the opt-in 1.1 patch. Got to around turn 50 and then everything locked up. Had to use Task Manager to quit the application. Wan't doing anything out of the ordinary, just processing a turn I think. Thanks Devs, Frank

I agree, the tech tree shading of researched techs is somewhat unclear. Also, my biggest frustration with the research UI is the default view of the research window, when I'd love to be able to STAY in the tech tree view. For example, if I use the tech tree view and select a tech from that window, the next time I have the opportunity to research a new technology, I would like to automatically go back to the tech tree window. Whatever window I exit out of should be the wi

Been playing the alpha for about an hour and I'm really enjoying it. One suggestion I though of: when you right click to select a ship to move, it would be nice to see an outline of the available movement area. This is a carry over idea from Civ5 obviously. Two thumbs up on the movement animations and the drastic improvements to the look of the game, even at this alpha stage.
