Bug 1: I won a planet via culture flip from an ally. It had no starport and I could not build one as it was not on the list. Bug 2: Galactic Guide book does not work on upgrades. When I upgrade a ship and add a survey module the price of the ship goes up! When I add it to a cleaned or new design the price does not go up. I don't know how I can help with bugs of this sort. I could post a debug.err or save fil

NLC provides a tech level of 22. it rules all and it looks eviil!!!
your max pop is your food production, simple. It's a 1:1 ratio. 1 food = 1 Billion people. Planets with over 20B people become very hard to keep happy btw.
Once a planet goes over 20b It becomes very hard to keep them happy. At that point you need to ship people out or not worry about the morale.
On the internet you exist as text (and assorted internet slang acronyms) so it is actually worth while IMHO to run a post through a spell check and at least a quick review. It is more important to write sensibly and respectfully. I don't get that worked up about spelling and grammar.
I like it. Some constructive support for you: It is way to slow to expand and would be hard to get info from the last item in a branch. It needs tech descriptions, mouse over pop up maybe or separate panel? (I am sure this was obvious) I think tech searching needs some thought. Remember the person searching doesn't know the details of what’s in the tech tree so what do they know? The design of the tree is dead simple so obv
It doesn't exist. You can only upgrade when a single ship is alone on a tile and you hit the button. One change I would like to see is fleet upgrades or group upgrades. It is just hard to issolate ships onto seperate spaces just to upgrade them and it wastes moves. The feature needs a hotkey as well.
A positive note on Combat performance of AI. Well In one of my recent games I manipulated the Drath to go to war with the Yor and watched as the war unfolded. (actually I manipulated all of them to go to war with the Yor but only the Drath had the military to do damage) AI Difficulty is Bright for both AI's It seemed like they used very sensible tactics. The Drath Sent its attack fleets in first and not in a s
While this issue is minor I found that if you upgrade a human transport it has more space than a normal cargo hull! This translates to more engines or range mods etc. This makes me wonder about other core designs and if they need to have their stats re-examined.
Bug found on version 1.1 Beta 3 1.10[b3].014 to be exact I emailed support all the good stuff. SmartException file and all. The email is named: GALCIV2 - 0x675335 - Game Crash, Exception The debug file: Debug Message: Version v1.1 BETA-3 last updated on: Thu Apr 6 14:45:50 2006 Debug Message: Could not find a TGN Serial No. Debug Message: *********DXDiag info follows.********* System Info<
1.1 Beta 3 Bug The Bug: --Steps-- Create a new ship design. add a tiny hull (doesn’t matter) Save it as "1" for example Upgrade the design and save it under a new name; say "2" //Notice that the "1" design is gone from the list even with a new name //Originally this would create a new entry on the design list. Designs "1" and "2" would be visible.
I'm just going to say right now that it is a usability flaw that camera rotation is only possible using the middle mouse button. It is a good thing the back up rotation controls are in the ship editor or I would be in real trouble. I am sure it is true most people have a middle mouse button but what if the middle mouse button is poorly made or broken? Should the user have to replace their mouse to use a certain game feature? Obviously not. <br
People need to NOT comment on the AI unless they have played it at a high level
Just thought I would point out in responce to post 29 that you need a fleet manager on your planet for the defending ships to be in a feet. The AI builds these things everywhere thats why most AI worlds pit you against a defence fleet.
I have no major bug problems with GC2. The game is great and I just finished my first metaverse game. I won on painful!! It was challanging and I was able to pull out of a desperate situation and win. While there where minor issues with certain things none detroyed the gameplay and for the moment can be worked around.
I thought I would point out a few things I do to keep all my ship designs in order and dodge a few bugs. When I design a new ship I always make a prototype. This means I make a ship that is only a hull and extras. When I wish to make a production run ship I "upgrade" the prototype, change the name, and add weapons and engines etc. This should help avoid an elusive bug invol
In one of my games I had plenty of issues invading Drengin Worlds with 1000 man transports and latter 2000 man. They had alot of soldiering and tech bonus as well as some very filled up worlds. I lost billions of troops. I did eventualy wear them down though. I had to use mass drivers if i wanted any chance of victory though due to the drengin advantages.
I got to push my designs to a higher level now. These are great!
To change Rally points you can click them in open space and disband them. If you rally to a starbase you can only remove it if a ship is on the stack with the starbase. Click the stack and then the blue rally point. This is a bug.
There is some odd behavior with stacks of ships. When you click a stack the first ship is selected. Let's say we want to manipulate a ship deeper in the group. The combination of selecting and picking a ship are combined causing some confusion. So if you want to give orders to one ship and you click it you may have to click the first ship in the stack to unselect it and it seems like the currently selected ship has changed. The information on the right will represent the sh
I think the arrows should move the map; currently they dont. Actualy I think we should be able to change our controls. Future patch maybe??
I don't think we can assume the AI bases all its military decisions on the military graph. But an official response on it would be good. You especially want the AI to have an accurate view of your military in trade negotiation so they will be properly frightened even if you have fewer ships yet more powerful ones. Based on some of the journals where the AI difficulty is high, I believe they do take into account a lot more information when making ship design choices and tactical cho
I am canadian so that screen shot brings a smile to my face. I am looking forward to GC2.
What a great battle report! I hope for at least 1 more before tuesday!
