For the box orderers, who got a temporary serial number, can they use this do make a metaverse char? Or do we have to wait for the box to come before we can participate in the metaverse?

Keep in mind, Brads playing those at higher difficulty/AI intelligence settings, so chance occurences can have a much higher impact. At those settings though, luck alone isnt going to win a game for you...you have to have the skills to stay within a certain range of the AI opponents , or a couple good turns are not going to hand you the game. You want the random elements in there though for purposes of replayability. If the game plays out the same way every time, what motivation is

Never bring any turn based strategy game (especially if it has "sid meier's) in the title, into your possesion on a week you have important work to get done. Believe me, I know. Get your work done first, then download the game as a reward...its not going anywhere.

I dont know from Laptops. I did kind of wonder though, why you guys exerted any effort to support Win98. Does anyone who would be interested in playing Galciv2, or any contemporary game really going to be operating on a win 98 machine? I know there are loads of win 98 systems still out there, but the ones in North America are covered with grease, running some sort of shop management software in the back of a garage, or in rows side by si

Have you considered 12:01 am instead? That way, It would let the die hards stay up and get their key files out of the way, before everyone and their sister hammers the servers in the afternoon, shutting people out for hours. I mean, I realize the pre orders only have key files to download now, but that still doesnt help when the server cant even start the Download process because everyone is trying at the same time. Not to mention those t

When I want Tactical, Ill get a game devoted to doing that as well as GC2 is devoted to big picture strategy. That being said, a "poll" on whether a game thats going to be on store shelves in 4 days, should or shouldnt "continue" to be what it already IS , seems more than a little silly( so of course, I had to post in it )

When I saw this thread, I was certain it was going to be a link to teh Balmer. Just a reference I suppose. But since no one else has done it yet, I may as well. I much prefer "the remix", but make sure to turn your sound down if youre at work. Link I hear the first 1000 Vista Pre-orders get a small vial of genuine Balmer sweat.

Taken on his own, I would have discared the comment. Its just this is the third preview that has referred to the game being surprisingly challenging, even on the easiest levels. The Gamespot piece did it in a positive sense, the gamespy previewer was critical in this regard. So, I think theres a legitimate recurring element here. I'll take you guy's word for it, but remember, many of you have been testers, who are atypically comfortable

I think some people have been reading Penny Arcade. Its not like Tycho has exactly "scooped" us with this information. We see it all the time. I think it was 60 minutes (or one of those news shows) that had a feature a couple years ago about the pervasiveness of guerilla and non traditional/high impact marketing online. In their piece, they

Small screenshots I want to read the specs on the ships Good read though! I notice however, that this is yet another preview (Ive read at least three now by different previewers that say the same thing)where the author notes that the game is significantly challenging( well, significant enough to mention), even on the easiest levels. While this is great, and I want to be he

Besides, by all accounts GC1 is no kind of indicator for GC2...theres been light years of advancement. SD probably wouldnt want you to base any opinions of GC2 on it. It is a little odd though, to see GC1 still priced as a new game through the Stardock client store. I always prefer to buy content directly from developers, especially indie developers, if the option is there. Id be much more likely to check out GC1 if it were priced a little more in line with a 3 year old game.

I think Citizen Yellow Sign hit upon it. Its a matter of the "fallibility" of the AI. Presumably, playing on a beginner level, youre just that...a beginner...youre going to be exploring the different things to do in the game. You might do things that arent tactically sound, but just because its cool to do so. That kind of gameplay has its own appeal..namely, a lot more freedom. For instance, you might decide you want an empire thats made up of a central world, flanked at nearl

I had also worried about this a little bit too. There are multiple ways to enjoy a game like Civ 4. Multiplayer aside, you can either play it to be challenged to your utmost, always struggling to keep your head above water, with one mistep resulting in your defeat, or you can play it more as a "Sim"...just the joy of building your civillization in exactly the manner you see fit. In GalCiv 2's case, just the joy of building your empire, naming your planets what you want, crafting your ships ho

I'm defintely looking forward to (RoN)Rise of Legends! Cant beat the concept, and it boasts some more new features to try and invigorate the stale RTS genre. By the time that comes out, I may be able to pull myself away from GalCiv 2

I suspect many of us are flocking to GC2 as a welcome breath of fresh air from all the same old, same old RTS games that are saturating the market right now, of which DoW is one, even if more polished than many. Its definitely the best warhammer licensed game ever made, but you know as well as I do...thats not saying very much at all. But again, if this was posted on the more general forums on TGnet, and wasnt really targeted specifically

Heh, no, it need not be a tit for tat translation of the sid meiers game, and I would certainly hope not. I'd expect stardock to build on it, and make it their own...namely, using their custom ship building notions. So you can tweak out your ships appearance and capabilities ...engine, armour, stealth capabilities, etc with better technology that you find on the black market (or steal ). It neednt even really be the mini game approach..
