I have the exact same graphical problem, not corrected with updated drivers, reinstalling the game, or opting out of beta builds.

After 1.9, I have similar graphical issues with Terran model starships as do others, with strange black shadows in place of the normal shadowing. I want to bring this up just to say that the issue is not unique and that I hope there is impetus to fix it. I have bought all the Galciv series games and their DLCs and now the game is unplayable for me. I deleted and reinstalled, with no improvement. I have updated my Nvidia drivers, no change.
