Well I could help out some, but got other modding to do atm. Infact I still have those Star Trek Mod for GCII, if you want to take a look at it. Not sure how much I can upload. Q and others did a great job on it! Too bad there isn't a video on yoube, but you can google images by entering Galactic Civilization II Star Trek Mod. Just look at the files of GCII Star Trek mod here, all these video clips came from ST series as well movies. And it is

Anyway just ordered another 16Gb of ram from newegg, so this will give me of total of 32GB ram on this rig I made. Should be alright playing insane maps, depending on the setups.

I noticed Airmaster had some collection on Steam, but it wasn't enough and didn't feel like Star Trek to me. Unfort I pulled all those mods off. What we need is a complete package, that contain music themes, video animations, proper setups for each factions. Just like Q did to GCII, they did a great job on it and believe it is lost now. If possible someone put all this together and set it up like the real thing in the galaxy as insane map

Yeah I was thinking of that too, more species, ships and other objects will eat more ram, even if you keep saving the game as well. So better turn off that autosave and play for like 30-45mins save the game then reboot. That way it would be more stable and giving it fresh run.

Really disappointed with all these silly and stupid star names in the game. I haven't figure out how to change them, but is there any good or realistic star names mod out there, there isn't one on Steam.

I have i5-3570 3.4Ghz on Wins 8.1 x64 platform and the memory may seem to be low for less than 16GB of ram to run that insane map. If insane map doesn't cut it, then what is suitable map size should I play that is the biggest for less 16Gb of ram? I didn't want to waste time playing tell it CTD. Guess I need to double my base memory output here.

That's cool, least it take time and just wondering if you or anyone else still working on it. Cant remember who started the Star Trek Mod back in GCII, wasn't it "Q"?

Noticed few are making ship styles and factions, but what about the whole package? Looking for a mod that team did in GCII that has a lot into Star Trek Mod, or the complete package. So have anyone starting working on this?

I like the game, just need more work to it as well the missing tactical space combat. Unfort I couldn't find the mod section to see if anyone is working on mods for GC3. What I like to see is Star Trek Mod :)
So far, Vista 64 bit hasn't been working for people, so I'm going to have to say no :c It may work later though, when compatibility has been fixed.
Sorry to hear that, hopefully that can be fixed later on.
They look at one price and get one game. Many seem to not take into account that you get the Game, All DLC and All expansions. If you like the series and know of the quality Stardock provides it is worth it in the end.
I do, but there few things i wasnt happy with previous GCSeries. All i need to know if support WinVista64bit and other issues i mention in other threads.

For 99USD is pretty high, even doubled for standard edition. I noticed that require Win7 64bit or later, but wondering if Vista64bit would work? I am not planning on getting another OS, mine seem to do just fine. Also noticed there alot of upset Steam Users complaining about the price of this software, some say isnt worth it. But still under development at the moment.

Maybe they'll fix some stuff in the upcoming bundled edition?
Hard to say, there alot of DW fans wasnt quite happy with the last expansion. So that why i waited and see what happen and look like it hasnt been improve much. There still glitches in there. When i was playing it, i dont like using the private s

The alpha build of the game is being released in a few days on March 27th, which means the beta is probably 5-6 months after that. The final game will likely be released sometime in Q1 or Q2 2015.
Cool thank you, i was say at least a year. Btw i t
Quoting Redindus, reply 152 I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but you will be able to mod map sizes in Galactic Civilizations 3, meaning you can probably generate much larger maps than what we had before (Immense). The modding potential for other aspects of the game has also been improved, because much more is being written and coded in XML format instead of hard-coded. Can't wait to see w
@Redindus I can see you are a Distant Worlds player I briefly tried Distant worlds and I wonder if the scope is not TOO big for my tastes. I mean, I dont even play the largest galaxies in GalCiv 2. Distant world seems very interesting though but I think I would need to try it some more to get used to how ridiculously huge and complicated it is. A bit complicated with the game being so expensive. I will consider buy
But thats the way GalCiv has been and by the looks of it will be. The best you can do is select an immense galaxy size and set stars to abundant.
True, but with that many systems i mention would need much larger sectors or grids than they had in GCII. Believe they mention it, but wont be much bigger that i wishes. All we can do is wait and see, btw looking forward to get it :)
1200 systems? By the time your fleet has gone on its 2 year voyage to reach the enemy territory, it will be horrifically out of date. Good luck playing THAT fleet.
The ways they have it setup yes, but in term of realilty it far more complex than you think. Its a big universe out there, not all systems are habitable, depend on species. Anyway it does take time to get to point A to B, depending on y
Quoting Redindus, reply 148 I dont know if i will like GalCiv3 or not, i wasnt too happy with the first two. Personally i like Distant Worlds alot better, just need more improvements. If they make or allow to have huge glaxay map like 1200 systems, then i may reconsider. Gonna need map editor and better be modable as well. If you did not like the first two GalCiv iterations, why are you here?
I didnt like when Skyrim came out that required Steam Account as well, either you buy it or dont buy it. Yes i do want this offline play, esp if you dont have internet, but you will need it to activate your account and verified your cd keys. When Diablo III came out, it was a huge let down. Number one is cant play offline, and secondly, itsnt even a diablo game at all. I dont know if i will like GalCiv3 or not, i wasnt too happy with the first two. Personally i like Distant Wo

By the time GalCiv3 is out, wondering if anyone willing to put together Star Trek Mod? Cuz i really missed it for GalCiv2, one thing wouldnt run on my WinVista64 and the mod wasnt complete back then.

4 Replies 15,613 Views

I wasnt too impress with galciv 1&2, wish the map was much bigger. Now im not sure how big the map can be in galciv3, since it will now support 64bit, anything is possible. Having something like 1200 systems would be nice, of course you would need very large map compare to Distant Worlds. Very much like to see Star Trek Mod back again :)
