Ever notice that when somebody says IMHO they're not being humble... That's so true, people should stick to IMO... BTW Rogerano, I assume you have access to the latest gmma build, with the latest AI, do you think GC2 suffers from not having a MP option? From the beta's I've played I d

Exactly, Diplomat Ugleb has hit the nail on the head. In the game the "Laser" is like the 386 in the example above and "Laser 1" is like a 386 running at 10MHz, a "Laser 2" is a 386 at 25MHz, a "Laser 3" is a 386 at 25MHz with better manufacturing (therefore cheaper), a "Laser 4" is a 386 30MHZ, etc... Then we get onto a 486, which is a "Plasma" weapon and again we get a "Plasma 1" i.e. a 486 at 66MHz, a "Plasma 2", 486 at 1GHz, etc... You can still make the 386 running at 25Mhz, wit

To give you that carrier feel, you could always build one or two big ships, then a smattering of really small ships and put them together in a fleet. I was thinking along the same lines for a solution, although I was also wondering 2 things for this. 1 if we could have the big ships in that fleet having great range but not all that

Couldn't a filagship have extra logistics points assigned to it? So that any fleet you formed with it in could be larger than your other fleets, as to me Flagship means the Admirals ship and the Admiral would normally have a hell of a fleet with him...

Exactly what I meant Popup Target. Currently the only way to really attack the population of a planet is to do a ground based attack (at least it was last time I played, haven't had time to play the beta recently), but if you do a bombardment or something like that I don't think it directly kills off any of the population, which leads to the cheese you meantioned above, therefore any type of attack on infrastructure or PQ (although I do think that PQ damaging attacks should be very l

This is a prime example of the difference between strategy (overall, I want to conquer them, decision making) and tactics (nitty grity, you go there, decision making). Of course you have to have some tactics in a game like this, as even directing individual ships (or groups of them) would be a job for the Admiral and not the "President" when it comes to attacking places. But you would never have the President (Overlord of multiple worlds) on the battlefield, directing battlefield tactics. The on

My main gripe is that I was assured that being a female leader would be possible. Now, I come to find out it won't be possible. Very disappointing. I find it odd that I was assured back during beta 2, when all the art we presently have for leaders was already in. Yet now in beta 4, we have a reversal of that statement. It seems to me to have been suggested with pleanty of

Ah, I'm sorry I was assuming you meant the ability to control your ships, as in Nexus, which I have played and agree it is a fine tactical space sim (with a reasonable story etc). Which is why I mentioned the Total War series as that's an example of the meld between strategy, Civ(IV) type stuff, and tactics, Nexus, Homeworld, Red Alert etc... As you have your turn based strategy, then you can do the tactics (i.e. so called real time strategy) when your armies meet (or of course you can just hit

There have been many, many articles on this subject and the answer on this one is basicly a "No". As far as I can tell this is because GC1 & GC2 are/were always intended as strategy games in the vain of the Civ games, in which you have the option of more than one way to win, not just through military might. In other words it's Civ(IV) for space not (Rome:) Total War for space... As to the MoO3 stuff I recomend you read this https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=164&AID=88762 That should an

I agree with Saber Cherry, especially about the God being a whale bit and about the fact that it should be "easiest" to carry on down a path to "evil", "neutral" or "good" once you start down that path, i.e. in terms of cost, popularity, etc.. I'm not sure it should ever completely lock you out (and it seems you can always buy out), but that once you start being good, it becomes easier to be good more often and the rewards reflect that. I believe that the extra content will be available once you have registered your product code with Stardock's content management program, which will then download the extra's as updates. As to the physical extra stuff that comes in the box, i.e. fold out tech tree etc... I guess you'll get all that in your box if you order it from your local GameStop or EB Games, although if in doubt hit the pre-order button on your left and pay for shipping (US -> UK is $10, although I did have to enquire about

I agree with rogerano here, at least in part. As I think, being the big galactic overlord that I am, I really don't care all that much about the individual ships, however I do care about the Admirals (fleet commanders), same as on planets I would care about the governors, also if I wasn't the one doing the negotiating with other species I'd care about who ever that was. Basically it comes down to the chain of command, I'm the one at the top, I give orders to the next lot down (those are the ones

I think a lot of these questions depend on 2 things, 1 the back-story for all this (including the years between GC1 and GC2) and the alignment of the races (i.e. pure good, chaotic evil, balanced neutral etc..). For example if during the period between GC1 and GC2 the humans have managed to send out many more probes and find out where all the "good" planets are then maybe they will also already know where the best ones are... Or possibly the opposite has happened and the war has dest

Looks good. 1 thing though, would it be possible to have a "neutral" version of a super project/galactic achievement. For example if you've managed to stay at around the 45-55 mark through the use of both trading and intimidation you could get the "Balanced Diplomatic Embassy" super project, which gives you both a 20% increase in trade and a 20% increase in military production...
