+1 to kestlstw . If we can not mine the asteroids, then we should remove them from the game. But the bigger question is why not have the ability to mine the asteroids like in GalCiv 1 and 2? It was a popular and useful tool.

While playing as the human race I have been unable to build any ships to mine asteroid fields. Is there a special tech I have to research to be able to build mining ships?
I did not see how to do this. When I bring up the Diplomacy screen and talk with another race, there is no option to trade/buy/sell any technology. Has it been moved to another screen? Also, how do you 'steal' tech?
Thanks Seilore taht last one worked.
Thanks Lucky Jack you are correct. They game plays fine with little CPU usage overall, ~40% but freezes and spikes ONLY when I try to use the 3rd mouse button on the laptop trackpad. DARCA, you miss my point as a external mouse is not desired. I play with a high end laptop so I can be mobile, like sitting on the couch and trying to use an external mouse there is just not possible. GalCiv 1 and 2 worked just fine with a laptop trackpad, not sure why 3 can't make the grade.<
I am finding many mouse issues with running GalCiv 3 on a laptop. The support for the built in trackpad/mouse is limited. Specifically I keep running into issues with the middle or third mouse button functions. It will occasionally zoom in and out but usually it causes the game to consume 100% CPU and stop responding. There is no support for rotating objects. No button combination allows for the built-in mouse to allow for rotating objects/ships. Hope there is a plan t
Well none of the mentioned options work with a laptop mouse/trackpad. I have tried every combination on my Lenovo X1 laptop and none work. Hope there is a plan to fix this obvious oversight..
When I go into the design screen to build a custom ship, how do I rotate the ship around to see it from different angles? I can move it around and zoom in and out but not rotate. Is that a limitation of this version?
I figured out that I can not colonize planet outside my sphere of influence. Is this by design?
I play all of these games (GalCiv 1,2,3) on my laptop. I like to be able to zoom out to the icon level and zoom in when I need to see full details. With GalCiv one and two I could use the '-' and '+' keys for this as well at the laptop middle button for zoom. The keys for GalCiv-3 do not work and the mouse button does not always work either. Is there a plan to fix this?
I have a colony ship that I sent out to a planet to colonize but when it got to the planet it just stopped and will not colonize it. The planet is currently not colonized and has a note of a "earth like planet" with a rating of 12. How do i get my colony ship to actually colonize it?
Very cool, thanks guys. I assume that if a project says N/A that means I have not researched the right tech to support it?
Thanks Rhonin, but how do I do that?
While playing, I have a colony that has completed the buildings in its queue. It does have 2 open tiles I am saving for projects to come. I am however, unable to progress to the next turn. It keeps pointing to my idle colony and will not let me skip it as I can with a idle ship and complete my turn. This has me stuck and unable to continue playing. How can I move to the next turn with an idle colony? Why are we being force to address every colony, ship, station for activity before continuing
