And you get the sound with the old DOS games? This I can't do at the moment. I think so. You will notice that they are pretty much all turn based strategy. I usually disable the sound. Frequently I have them running in the background in a window on my laptop. Dosbox has been my companion thru many boring meetings, lunch breaks, car trips and stupid TV shows. I think it is the next best thing to TIVO. The main exception is I usually leave th

I want to be able to run some of my old DOS games. --SNIP-- However, my financial situation may soon change and I'm hoping to get a P4 3.2GHz with Windows XP Pro and 2GB RAM. Currently I have an Athlon 1.6GHz with 512MB RAM. Hope it works out. If you haven't already, you might wish to check out Dosbox when you get XP. I use it to play all my old DOS games. Some of those old games never lose their attraction for me. I s

It's actually more likely that it is the *cause* of the problem. The game can't properly activate if it gets what appears to be invalid version data. Ah. I suspected that might have something to do with it. Given the number of people that were not complaining, I was afraid it was either the unofficial service pack or some interfering malware. Miles

Here is my debug.err As you can see, I am running Win98SE. After MS dropped support for Win98, I applied the community supported service pack to address some issues (primarily the 384 Meg issue.) I don't know if this is reflected in the version number. Well, I was specifically voting for an updated 'Master of Magic'. This is still one of my favorite games. Some complain that it isn't balanced, but I actually prefer it unbalanced. I can play it hard. I can play it easy. In fact, I was playing it again (via DosBox) just this weekend. This time I took the 'Warlord' + 'High Men' + 'Underworld' approach. I have played many of the successors to MOM. Dominions; Age of Wonders; Disciples; Lords of Magic. I still prefer MOM. I think i

Seems, if I want most of those suggestions, I can play MOO2. I love MOO2. I love GalCiv2. I am not sure I would love GalMOO2. I sure didn't like MOO3. So far, Brad has done a pretty good job of balancing wish lists and StarDock's capabilities. That said, here is MY wish list, which is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than yours. Because it is MINE! So there! ********FIRST FEATURE*********** I love to direct fights. It is my favorite part of MOM. It is my favorite part of MOO2. It

MOM is also my favorite game. I play it every month or so. I have tried almost all the various MOM descendants (Lords of Magic, Age of Wonders, Disciples, Dominions.) I still prefer MOM. I know it is unbalanced. That is part of the charm. You can play hard. You can play easy. There are many ways you can win (or lose.)
