It would make a lot of the mathematical aspects of the game difficult, especially of the "what sector am I in" kind. That being said, the only way I can envision sectors of hexes is as a hex of hexes. After drawing some diagrams on paper it looks to me that

So I have two questions. 1) what does this have to do with CalCivIII? 2) Is StarDock seeing this? Is it legit? Or is it a joke? or a scam?
Didn't we discuss this in a previous version's development? I have difficulty seeing the "reality" of there being greatly divergent tech trees. Some things, based on a Civ's physiology might be believable, but most of it would have to conform to basic physics, which is not just a galactic condition, but a universal condition.

"Impressive. Most impressive."
I think someone in a previous post mentioned products that allow licenses for multiple PCs. I think up to 3 was mentioned and I think I have seen one app that allowed 5. So I have to ask, does Steamworks have support for this? Since GC3 is going to have Multiplayer support, it seems to me that there would be great testing benefit in having 2 or more players sitting in the same room on their own PCs testing the playability of the MP aspects of GC3. Couldn't SD encourage this is some way?</
OK, guys. Yes, I made a serious misstatement. I am sorry for the confusion I caused. I was trying to point out that the Ram on any PC was an OS resource, generally not directly an app resource. A lot of people get confused when we try to talk about Ram requirements. The discussion was getting too deep into the grey area in this thread (for most users) of how Ram, Virtual Memory, Swap file space, and Real Memory are allocated, used, and fit together. I do trust that GC3 will be using the "Avai
One of the things I think would enhance the game would be to allow enemy ships to be captured during space fleet battles and planet fleet battles. Also, all of that scrap metal from ships that are destroyed and no longer operable should be collectable and reusable (perhaps just reducing the time to complete ship building projects). Maybe some sort of a scrap metal collection ship type would be needed that can collect the scrap and then be sent to one of your planets to supply its ship
I like it. But I think I would like a variant of it better. Suppose you wanted to ally with said under-dog with the intent of conquering same under-dog later? While this may sound like a no-brainer, if you think about it, you may approach the alliance differently. Or perhaps you would like some reward for your efforts on their behalf, perhaps you would like half the planets you capture, or half the scrap metal from the ships destroyed or half the ships captured (another featur

But please remember that we individually are quite different people with differing wants and needs. As I said earlier, I am a control freak (perhaps I should have qualified that with "in certain ways"). The use of toggles to allow players a choice between "control" and "abstraction" was used well by GC2 for fleet battles, and in both previous versions for other features. I b
Zydor, I am beginning to think that much of this discussion is based on individual definitions of "tactics" or "tactical battles". With that in mind, I think that both Charon2112 and I are correct. GC2 did have very minimalistic tactical battles from my viewpoint (although at a totally auto-resolve level) and that GC2 didn't have any tactics from Charon2112's viewpoint.
Yes, we are like kids anticipating Christmas. Isn't this fun?
I wasn't going to weigh in on this, because I feel rather neutral about it, but, lets face it: 1) GalCiv is a strategy game. So is Moo2. The tactical combat is only a feature, not the end all of either game. GC2 had tactical combat, although it was more of an illusion because it was always more of an auto-resolve, perhaps one could say a pseudo-auto-resolve. 2) A master strategy plan has to include tactical actions. No real life strategy plan will survive without tactical

Are you talking about multiple play lists? At least one version of Galciv allowed the player to create and use playlists. Was it GC1? Maybe it was GC2? Both? I will have to check next chance I get.
