I originally purchased Object Desktop YEARS ago (10?). I saw an ad and decided to re-up and re-install. I couldn't be more disappointed. WinCustomize has a very small community and the site is literally identical to what it was 10 years ago. Most of the popular skins are the same ones I saw years ago as well. I tried a few of them, and each of them came with their own quirks that caused me to remove them (reminded me of why I stopped using it years ago). For example, not capturing the

So I was playing Minecraft and League of Legends immediately following the purchase and installation of Object Desktop. I encountered intermittent graphics lag that would freeze my game anywhere from 1/2 second to 4 seconds. This, of course, is BRUTAL when playing a game. Because I installed all of the products immediately, I started uninstalling them one-by-one until the lag stopped. I removed Fences, Tiles, Window Blinds, and Groupy. I do believe it was Tiles that was causing

It was bound to happen, but at least the people who paid for it weren't punished by the DRM. Of course it's going to be up early: there's nothing to crack :) At least we know it's an anticipated title! :) All of stardocks other games have been pirated and they're still making cash right? I don't think it matters. It's like saying, "Hey, it rained! I knew it would happen but I wanted to let everyone know!" :)

Seems I missed the hot topic. I'm a HUGE fan of MP games and honestly, simply having MP capabilities in a game like this is amazing in and of itself. MP is there, and if you have to have two copies validated against the server, that's exactly the kind of DRM that I would consider acceptable :) I'd really like to see a Diablo-esque MP "Spawn." I mean, really, you can play Halo with 4 people on the same console, right? Just one person has to have a license. I really liked

Thank You! I love digital distribution, but hate DRM. No matter how malicious the DRM, someone will crack it and the game will end up on a torrent somewhere. It's not hard to find the good torrents, either. The only thing DRM seems to accomplish is to annoy paying users. I've torrented games I own because the DRM is too nasty. I didn't buy Assassins creed 2 or Silent Hunter 5 because it came from Ubisoft.

Okay so this is more like a Thread Leak, but same thing. I noticed ObjectDock.exe had 137 threads the other day in Task Manager. I killed the proc and restarted and it started with 9. I use remote desktop a lot I wonder if that has something to do with it? Anyway I thought I'd let you know.

Personally, I like tactical combat. I think it's ignorant to assume it serves no real purpose. I agree it's not 'required' for the game, but neither is ship jewelery Tactical combat is still strategic. I think it's the only thing missing (besides multiplayer) to make this my fav game. Space Empires IV is still my #1 turn-based game, despite the unbalanced tech tree and rather stupid AI. The tac

Here are a few bugs I've noticed. Sorry if they're duplicates: 1] When attacking with 2 ships in a fleet versus a planet, upon winning my ship's HP actually went UP, not down. 2] When filling a planet's social build queue, after filling the last request, the cursor highlights the first thing in the queue, but when I hit "Purchase" it's something different. 3] When I'm in a planet screen and I go to the "Build Ship" window, hitting DONE puts me back to the space screen and th

For me, it's about the sheer ethics of DRM. Honestly, how many people will really turn down buying a game due to DRM? The same number of people who wouldn't buy DVD's because of the useless region number restriction: very few. The RIAA has visciously abused the fact that, like games, each title is uniquely valuable. For most corporations, if a DRM solution has no impact on sales and has an impact on piracy, then that's all execs need to hear. The margin gets bigger. This is

AWESOME. Of every game that's out right now, PSP, Xbox 360, PC, etc. Gal Civ is #10. That's hot. Kudos!! Rank: 10 of 17,521 (UP) 10 Rank on PC: 7 of 5,121 "Galactic Civilizations II is a strategy gamer's dream, boasting a rare mix of depth, customizability, humor, and replayability."

I just wanted to say a big "Thank You!!!" for omitting the annoying piracy protection on Gal Civ 2. People who buy the game are no less than annoyed by copy protection. People who download the game will do so regardless of any copy protection. It's my belief that (modern) copy protection actualy encourages the distribution of cracks. I've DL'ed and searched for cracks for all of my store-bought games to protect my original disks. I know a lot of computer-retarded

Do what I do: "Have you ever played Civilization?" "Yeah. I got Civ 4. It's GREAT!" "Throw it away. Gal Civ 4 slaughters it." "You serious?" "Yup." That's it. Now if they can only get it on the shelves... Don't say "Turn-Based." Turn based games are the victim of bad PR started when RTS games came along. Just say Civ 4 and people will bite.
