I'm trying (in vain) to find a setting or settings for controlling the visibility of the "restore" button on the window title-bar. I really need a setting like "Show if restore button exists" or "Show if maximised OR minimised", but I can't see anything like this. Does anyone know what combination of settings to use to show the restore button corre

I'm gonna skin the, uh... throbber in SkS. I know what it is, but I've got no idea how to skin it, and SkS ain't forthcoming with the info, being an unsupported feature. So... there are 3 image sizes: large, medium and small. Are these avi's or tiled images? What are the dimensions per frame? Are ther

Thanks guys! The default icons don't even show now, so I can't modify them. I remember they used to 'cause I had them in my last skin (erm... sorry, I forgot). But I didn't know what they were for then and I'm no wiser now. Suppose I could have a look at them then poke around in windoze and see if I can name them... Oh well If I find what they are I'll post em here
Wass-aaaaap!?!?!? Anyone know what these unlabelled Windows Explorer icons are for? Not easy to skin them without a description, and since SkS doesn't seem to have any default icons anymore I've got nothing to go on... Any info is greatly appreciated!
Done that too, still doesn't work...
Wierd! Vertical chunk size was 10, horizontal size was 7. Changing vertical size to 7 as well made it work. Perhaps both horz and vert chunk sizes have to be the same... Oh well, it works now.... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/lol.gif" border=0 ALIG
Wow, those images actually got uploaded!
Hi Halluci Thanx for your reply. I'll try and clarify what I mean, and see if I can add some pics! I do mean the segment version of the progress bar, yes. I've got the single segment and it has the magic pink stripe down the left side. Didn't know the sizing margins had to be zero so I changed that, but it doesn't seem to have helped. Here is the segment background I want to use: <img src="http://jastewart.my-bulldog.com/photos/BDVIO/jastewart_my-bulldog_com/XPProgressH
Trying to get my head round XP progress-bar chunks and the settings that go with them. I did a search to see if anyone else had any ideas, and the only thing I found is 40+ days old. Has anyone found out anything more concrete since that post? The progress bar and chunk appear to be correct in the preview, but not in the test window in SkS. Also, in the XP shell the bars look ok, but in IE when a page is loading they look kack. Whats goin' on? Do I have to skin WebBlinds as
Ok... Got rid of the menu-items with black borders by deleting the images for the top and bottom items. I guess this forces WB to use the normal item. So just the text in the Tab buttons left to sort out.
WB is v4.4, SkS is 4.39.003rc (updated last night) I've sorted out the vertical white stripe in the menu background - glyph images! Don't remember putting any in but I must have done, and that was messing up the graphics. Removed the glyph: no more vertical white stripe! Still got no transparency on the first frames of the top and bottom menu items. And text in the tab items is still
Oops, erm sorry. Helps if I ask the questions correctly... In question 1, I meant to say "The text appears correctly positioned in the first (leftmost) tab in a row, but not in any of the other tabs." Can anyone pleeeeaaaase tell me why this happens and how to fix it?
I'm working on my second skin and, having found out how to get my skinned menus to appear in WinXP, its opened up a whole big can of worms for me. So, and I'm hoping these haven't been asked a trillion times B4 (searched but didn't find!), I've got a few questions that I hope you experienced skinners can answer... 1. Text alignment in Tab Controls In the tab, I want the text to start a

This menu will also show if you have more open apps than your taskbar has room to show and several of those apps are instances of the same program. If you have, as Snowman says, checked the option "Group similar taskbar buttons" and for example you are looking at several different web pages at the same time in different instances of IE, all those instances will be grouped together under a single "Internet Explorer" taskbar button - click that button to get a menu of the all instances of
Thanks NightTrain, I'm still working on the thing right now, trying to get the graphics consistent. Once thats sorted then I'll upload it...
HI NightTrain2002 Thanx for the reply! Had a look at the font settings - they are "to leave fonts the default size" and "leave skin fonts alone". "Disable font special effects on controls" is not checked. So something else is happening. Sometimes the font is the size I set in SS, sometimes it seems wider. And that seems to happen at random. Also I am applying a blurred-shadow effect to the titlebar font and it looks different in SS to when WB is applying the skin.
Can someone please tell me why the text for the window caption bar when my skin is running is sometimes not the same as it looks in Skin Studio? The problem I'm getting is that I specify a font size of 11 points in SS, and the preview window shows the text how I want it to appear. But when I run the skin probably 60-70% of the time the font is in a larger size and so is not correct. Why is this? How can I fix it? What is the meaning of life, the universe, and
Thanks everyone! I've had a look at Cyrix, and he seems to implement a mix of the workarounds suggested by CerebroJD and MikeB314. Reckon I'm gonna simulate the buttons in the logoff background. Seems the most sensible approach. Cheers again.
Does anyone know how to prevent the logoff button background from being effective in the Start panel using Skin Studio? My problem is this: I have buttons for undock, logoff and shutdown. The logoff and shutdown buttons appear in the start menu as I want them, but when the mouse is over them the blue XP box is drawn around them. I have defined a transparent "magic pink" bmp to be used as the background for the logoff buttons area, and now the blue box is not drawn but the logoff
Thanks Pixel Pirate! Kinda annoys me that I can't do what should be a simple thing. I'm finding a few things in SS that don't behave properly and its getting in the way of what could be a really good piece of software. This sort of thing forces all skins to conform to a particular layout, which surely limits how original a skin can be. I hope they fix it soon, this and transparency in Programs menus. cheers <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/joke.g
Hi, Having some problems with getting the USer Name where I want it to be in the User Pane. WB seems to be ignoring the content margins and text alignment settings. Does anybody know how to get the user name to appear exactly where they want it to go? Thanx in advance
Thanks for the info chaps. I thought that the background would show through but there is no background there because I can see my desktop wallpaper showing through where I haven't done an image for the resize gripper yet. Looks like I'll be going with Brainiac's suggestion and overlay the buttons on the background then flatten 'em all... Just need an idea for my background...
Does anyone know if alpha transparency can be used on scrollbar buttons - not the slider or the glyphs but the actual arrow buttons. I've checked the transparent and translucent boxes on my scrollbar section but the arrow buttons are drawn with a black border > so transparency doesn't seem to be working. Am I doing something wrong, or is this not supported (just like alpha transparency in menu b
