OK well. As for Ausvet's fix: the "no gui boot" option was not checked for me, so I'm good there... however, his suggestion to just go ahead and slam your computer jam-full of startup items by selecting "normal boot" is a bad idea. People shouldn't be messing with msconfig anyway unless they know what they are doing (which isn't saying much, in msconfig's case.) However, good news! The updates have worked, and now I have bootscreen going; thank you all for your input

Not sure I know why I would have more than one account, KarmaGirl...
Personally, I think the MyColors gadgets are crap anyway. Stardock's programmers obviously couldn't program their way out of a paper bag and couldn't make a competent gadget to save their lives.
Sorry, I posted this already in the General category of the forums, but I couldn't figure out how to delete or re-categorize it so I'm just re-posting it to the appropriate category. I downloaded the free version of BootSkin Vista v1.02.006 made available to me this morning by Impulse. So far, no good. I was looking for a MyColors theme.
Okay, then we agree it's worth ten dollars. I'd pay that. The Gloss Burgundy looks good, but the Plastic Fantastic isn't even for MyColors.
I would like a red theme, not based on any team or any product, but just RED. With red icons and the whole shebang. I would pay twenty bucks for that. If anyone else is on this bus, please reply and let them know that we want RED!
I'm trying to run gadgets in the MyColors themes, but with the exception of the Quest clock, they won't run. The Quest calendar has an icon which appears in the system tray, and the ThinkGreen weather gadget does nothing at all. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 32 SP1 with ObjectDock, Fences, and MyColors. Any ideas on what's causing this? Also, I tried searching the forum for "weather" "gadget" and "gadgets", but got no results when I should have gotten some, so if
