GalCiv III hex system of movement is really lacking realism - Almost all other TB games use the more popular 8 sided 'compass' movement/logistical system. I mean...we drive/walk/fly/sleep using that 'natural' directional system and it is soooo easily 'coded'. [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e]
??? /me looks at Cvilization. Hexagons.... /me

Now that we have entered the Beta phases, what sort of feedback is being looked for? I assume we should probably hold back any grammar polish in dialogues, but what about if the procedure logic that chooses the dialogue to be shown is potentially incorrect? (For example, one I wrote down in my notebook is "[Dialogue] Playing as Altarian, upon first contact with The Iridium Corporation, the dialog message thanks you for Hyperdrive. This is probably invalid because it was the Terr

I have been playing the alpha on my Surface Pro 2. Graphics wise I didn't have many issues. It ran at 1080p fullscreen smoothly, though I think I did turn down the Anti-aliasing (which by default was 4x). Turn based games in general tend to work very well with touch interfaces. Most of the general game play works very well with touch, i mean of course if you are trying to order a ship to move and you are zoomed out all the way... you don't really expect it to be right on the m
Kind of disappointed that we said 27th and whilst its still the 27th its getting quite late on in the 27th and Steam appear to be the ones holding it up (I actually really dislike steam as a company I feel theyre getting worse and worse)
Meh, 27th is the 27th, what can you do but (attempt) to wait patiently. But I do agree, I have been taken aback by some of Valves actions recently regarding the steam platform. (I mean

Funny thing is, GalCiv2 worked pretty will with touch even not being optimized for it... I have done more than a few Twitch.TV live streams of gameplay like that using my Surface Pro 2, as well as in person demos of the Surface Pro for on the go gaming. Playing GalCiv2 on my Surface Pro is actually what got me an invite to the Surface Pro 2 launch event to talk about gaming on the Surface Pro. (Civ5, DotA, GalCiv2, WoW, Portal 2, etc) Turn based games are ideal for touch support on so

A friend of mine actually got contacted by Valve directly because they needed tax information because he sold so many of them (I think it was like over 15$ total.) That said, I just turn around and sell mine.
One thing I'd like to see done on the research side is to make it less deterministic and more random. In most games, including GC-2, you know the entire tech tree from the start and have exact knowledge of how long it will take to acquire a particular capability. Real life doesn't work that way! Sometimes there are research breakthroughs that weren't expected, other times the researchers go down a dry well and end up with nothi

I am going to go in a weird direction, because I like the idea, but at the same time can see the issues that Stardock would be facing with implementation. (Addition data on the carrier ship, do the ships carried get destroyed, do they add to the fight... Not to mention just making the managment of the fighters easier...) What about a portion of the research tree where you research fighter tech (With of course different kinds of weapon/armor whatever... Like pure defensive that buzz ar

+1 for Surface RT/2 ARM Tablets. (I know, its a long reach. But playing GalCiv2 on my Surface Pro just makes me realize how a game like this could transform the tablet gaming market.)

I just want a random event to occur either to the civilization or a colony that causes the political powers at play to 'Shut Down the Government'. Since Stardock seems to have fun embedding jokes in to their dialogues, just figured this would be a nice joke to have.

(From the FAQ featured here. https://www.galciv3.com/game/faq ) Q: When will Galactic Civilizations III come out? A: We don’t expect it to be ready for release for quite a while. As of this writing (fall 2013) it is in internal alpha testing. We expect it to go into the Founder’s alpha early next year and a public beta soon to follow.

As long as I can play offline, I would be OK with a 'persistent campaign server' to sync progress. If an intermediary server is required for the multiplayer gameplay, I really do hope that we can setup and host our own servers. Not that I dont expect Stardock will do a fine job providing for the community, just that I would like to be able to setup a server at LANs with friends and not need to worry about my phones tethering plan. :) (Also, I am just a bit of a software develo
