everytime i try to use a bootskin, i restart my pc and i get a message that windows was unable to start properly and it tells me to restrt in safe modes or last good configuration, i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing works, can someone help? i am using windows XP
please help, i really like these bootskins and would like to be able to use them

Ok, new file sent, you have to rename it too .EXE and run it, that should then allow you to use the Bootskins

BTW: It's Dennis (Male)

I can't think of any reason why it doesn't work. unless there is some other program that is interfering with the boot-up sequence

There's no commercial loader on your computer?

You normally see the default XP screen?

You have admin rights to the XP OS?

The install is to default paths for Bootskin?

Maybe virus checking enabled in Bios?

[starting to grasp at straws here]...

I have found the solution. don't ever restart your computer again

I gave up last night, and I have never had an problems with bootksin.

angela316 - Do a search and make sure you actually have ODzip.dll in the 'Common Files' folder.

OK...re-boot into bios (hit 'DEL' on post) and make sure 'Virus Check on start-up' is disabled.

Re-start your computer and when you see the 'Computer Info' first come up on the black screen, hit the 'Del' key and it will enter the bios. Look for that setting and disable it...

BTW: make sure you save changes in bios before you exit...should be F-10 key

angela316...there's a virus scanner in your BIOS which checks the system at boot, before the OS is even loaded.

You will not see that virus checker in your Programs...it is not on your drive, but in the hardware of your motherboard.

If you are unaware of BIOS settings and what they do I'd strongly recommend you seek the assistance of someone who does....as meddling with the settings has the potential to dramatically impact on your system's functioning.

That said, however, a fair guess is that your BIOS virus check is enabled and noticing a 'change' in the bootscreen and assuming you have a problem.

I'm not sure of this as I do not know at what 'level' the bootskin loader is working on bootup...

Jafo makes a good point....

if you want to try again turn off your computer and then re-start it. As soon as you push the power on button keep hitting the 'DEL' key and it will boot into bios.

Yrag, Too technical form a young lady, and it may not be the Delete key, sometimes it is an Fxx key, which I have come across many time, either way it should always be written across the bottom of the screen

Yeah...I'm inclined to agree, thus my reference to Jafo's post. I played the odds with the delete key...if it goes beyond that I think she needs to find a more informed person that can actually look at her machine.
