boot skins help

Does this happen with all the skins....any one of them you try?...

yes all of them, i tried the ones that were already in there also ones i have downloaded, i have no clue what is wrong

I assume you are running Windows XP, it does not work on win98 or WinME

yep, XP, compaq as well, i tried the boot XP after this didn't work, but it was worst, it started to show the bootskin but the color was off and then it restarted again and i had to reboot in safe mode and restore system settings, i am running in 32 bit color, i tried to put it on 16 with the bootskin from here but it still did not work, i even tried turning my security off to see if it was keeping me from changing script or something

also i looked in regedit and foud the stardock wincustomize file, logon studio was there but not boot skin, i searched in regedit for boot skin there is a path for it but none in the wincustomize file, i am wondering if that has something to do with it, in my programs under wincustomize it is in there, but not in regedit

The boot screen should ALWAYS be 640x480 - 16 Colour - (4 bit) pictures

And the ProgressBar should always be 22x9 - 16 Colour - (4 bit). Exactly the same palette as the main pic

if i downloaded them from here how can i check those settings on the bootskins?

i see the 640x480 is right but can't see if the progress bar is correct

If you download from Wincustomize then they should match the criteria, and should work, there must be something else wrong, you do have the latest version of the BootSkin program, yes?

yes i just downloaded it the other day, and redownloaded, (the bootskin beta file)is that the right one?

The latest version is v75a Public Beta, that will be part of the installation filename

i noticed in the install file, or read me file it says it was changed to add the ODZip.dll in registry, i just searched in registry and it did not come up

was that one release 11/13? that is the one i have bootskin 075_public

That file is only needed to import/export a .BootSkin file and not used for the displaing of the skin

do i have the updated bootskin file? mine doesn't say v75a it is v 0.4455.0.0 bootskin075_public

This may or may not work, but try it:

Uninstall - Reboot - Install - Reboot

That may solve the problem, if not i'll try and think of something else to try
