Can't play any campaign

When I try to play any campaign, with the sole exception of Retribution, I get a map that's mostly black. Here's a screenshot of the game.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Have you tried verifying integrity of game files?

  • Right click on GC3 in your Steam library;
  • Go to Properties;
  • Then the local files tab;
  • Click on Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Just did it, and it's still like that.  Running it again, though.

The first time it was 4 files failed to validate, and this time it was 3.

If the problem persists it would help if you uploaded a savegame to a cloud service (DropBox, Google Drive, One Drive) and post a link here, so the developers can take a look at it.

Savegames are located in \Documents\My Games\GC3\Saves or \Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade\Saves

no. It seems like it was the 3.9 patch (or maybe an earlier patch, not sure. Haven't played in a while).

We worked it out over email. 

The problem was a corrupt Prefs.ini file.  Deleting the file from the Documents\My Games\GC3Crusade fixes the issue.
