opt-in 2.5 crash upon startup

The game crashes in 2.5 for either quick start or new game, using startup settings that I created in previous versions (example, size of galaxy).

[later] further testing shows that it crashes for all map sizes greater than small.  I've had no problem playing ludicrous map size in previous versions.

Can you file a ticket so that we gather more information on this?  Be sure to mention whether you are trying to run base or Crusade.

I had steam problems and did not get even that far at first. now it is OK.

How about some sort of system check program that people can run from your web page/steam store page to see if the comp is actually GC ready and has 3rd party programs needed. Even if the computer's person thinks it is.

I believe we're having the same issue.  Trying to start a new game via Quick Start would crash to desktop.  Same with starting a new game, as soon as I clicked Start it would crash to desktop.

Upon further review.... As long as I do not try to play as or against the Torians or Arceans, the game starts.  For what it's worth, I can copy the Torian civilization and use the copied civ without crashing.

I crash every time I try to start a campaign...I can play random games just not campaigns. I am using the opt in.

Ok we found the cause.  Working on a fix now.

We posted an update to the opt-in.  Can you restart steam, validate files, and then see if the problem is still present?  Thanks!
