Stuck Turn Fix in 1.7 (Beta)?

I wrote a ticket to SD support because we frequently encounter the "stuck turn" issue in multiplayer games (roughly once every 2 hours). In their reply, the recommended to install the 1.7 Beta patch. I've checked the changelog in the forum and didn't find any entry concerning the stuck turn issue. Is there such a fix in this patch, or was this just copy-paste advice like "oh well, if you have any issues, maybe install some patch or update some driver"?

This may fix or resolve the issue as whatever work they did may have an impact.  Unfortunately, this is a common reply from Stardock support and have gotten it frequently on my long 50+ hour single player games stating please download the latest update (1.7 ect...) and restart the game and let us know if you have anymore problems.  I understand where they are coming from but, like you I'm not going to constantly restart a 50+ hour game to see if they have fixed an issue only to get back there and find out I still have the same problem.  I just don't have the time.

The good thing is, that once you get past the vanilla response like that, typically you get a very good response with Stardock, pshaw is great, along with several others.  Although I'm still waiting for fixes myself that have been sent over stating we've added to the list and we will get to it sometime in the future, including yet another issue with a game that crashes every time going to the next turn (unrecoverable crashing.)

Kibou81,

Can you submit a ticket ( https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit ) with an auto-save just before the crash so we can take a look?  Thank you.

It's not a crash, it's the issue where some AI player's turn never ends and you can't continue the game. It's an issue that occurs randomly, so unfortunately, you can't reproduce it from a savegame. I'm asking about the fix in 1.7 because I'm not that keen on installing a Beta version. If there is a fix in there and good reason to believe it might help, I'll give it a try, otherwise I'll stick to the regular udpate path.

#LBA-676-33395 Sean Drohan stated there is an internal ticket on it but, that's all I've heard on this.  This is something new that came up after your wonderful team :) fixed the last unrecoverable crash issues.  Which I loved the work you did there.  On this one though I haven't heard anything on it and, I can't really try this save with 1.7 because of the constructor spam with auto upgrading hundreds of star bases, just locks up the turn before it has a chance to complete, waited 50 minutes one day trying and it was hung adding constructors to que in the turn process.

Sorry, I thought by the comments on the post that he already had created a ticket as I normally get the response he was referring too.

Yes, I did create a ticket, as described in the OP.

We did install the 1.7 Beta after all, but so far it doesn't seem to make any difference in regard to the issue (three stuck-turns in about six hours of playtime so far, which is about the same rate as before).

Skipped to the end of this thread and may have missed something, but 1.7 is supposed to be fully compatible with old saves- you shouldn't have to restart your marathon games.

Sorry I said "crash" when I meant stuck turn.  So an auto-save a few turns before the stuck turn happens.  These sort of issues don't always reproduce after loading a save game but when they do we can fix them.

As for 1.7 and all of our patches, we regularly address bugs such as stuck turns with each release. Without more information, I can't say for certain whether or not we've addressed the specific problem you encountered.  If you file a ticket, we can look into it one way or another.
