i have an idea for a New way to adress the diplomacy in the game, using the next expansion spies (if you guys have played galciv 2 you know how they worked)
In the menu before starting a game: Lets say i am playing a New round on galciv3 With my faction.
Settings: Now lets say the expansion is out (think in Your mind, its out!) and you are trying to go for diplomacy in the game. But the diplomacy game has changed in a very unique way.
You Discover this: (note: i will use phases for explaning the stage the game currently is in.)
Phase 1: Now you can Train diplomats from the embassy and spies from somthing else (like a building):
Phase 2:you notice you cant use diplomacy the same way, as you can now (1.40 opt-in)
Phase 3: information will now play a vital role in the game (meaning you have to use espionage and diplomats in order to learn about a certain alien race in the game such as the Drengin.)
Phase 4: you want to negotiate With the Dregin-Empire and sends a diplomat. (trained by the embassy)
Phase5: After a few turns Your diplomat alerts you and shows you a menu (The diplotable! )
Explaning: the function of the diplotable: The diplotabel is where the diplomats from both races meets each other and gives information about what they desire
(only when both races wants to negotiate, diplomacy may commence )
(meaning what type of things/needs for Your empire are you after (Tech, BC, ships, Resources, starbases, planets) and represents them on a table.
Thus information/espionage Plays a vital role in the diplomacy (when creating relations With a barely known races. (such as the drengin in this game)
However you have a very few diplomats at Your hand and can only Train a certain amount
(depending on how many embassys you have and how much time you have spent in the game.) (lets say each embassy can Train up to 3 diplomats by turn 30 as an exsample)
(think of them as Cards on the diplotable)
so in order to know who to negotiate with you must use espionage and confirm where you wish to send your diplomats to. (with races that has diplomats available)
Phase 6: you have used Your spies and gained information about the Iridium cooperaton, from the drengin and learned they have diplomats available.
(Status: waiting to get contacted)
Phase 7 you contact them using espionage and sends diplomats (after the contact is done and basic introduction has been done) and waits a few turns for their response:
Phase 8: they accepted, and the diplomats are now showing the information they have been told to share With the Iridium Cooperation.
Phase 9:The Iridium are doing the same and are willing to show, what they can offer from what i want.
Phase 10: then i ask about a price about (lets say i want a Tech and a ship) and they ask for Money in return according to their revealed information (saying They desire a lot Bc)
Phase 11: I give them information about my own Treasury and bc-production, (by showing them this information gave me some diplomacy trust from them)
the bc, but still not enough to convince them to lower their discount. (then i ask how much do you need for the deal to be Sealed. (they say 4678 bc)
Phase 12: the deal as been accepted and because i showed them the amount i had,
Phase 13: this means the Iridum Cooperation, diplomats will now say to their leader.
(this guy will trade With us more often if we can betrusted him with more information about Our empire tech and research and allowed him one time trade, With a discount to the next tech he buys from us.
Theory phase 14:This will happen as a result because the iridium wanting (BC) and me wanting (New Tech). so they offer me somthing clever like this (10% discount) so i will send him one of my diplomats and start a trade With him.
(giving him want he wants and a reason for me to keep trading With him if the Tech costs above 4000 bc i will gain 10% BC discount for that tech)
Phase 15: Relations between me and the iridium will keep growing until treatys can be commenced, and give him a greater reason not to hide his Empire goods and information.
(he trusts me, but not my spies
)
(Note this also applys to me, if i keep sending diplomats and keep trading With him.
But he can also do the same to me, if it is a benefit for his empire as a boon or boost. or if he seeks an Allience as a strategy in order to stand a better chance against warlike empires.)
Phase 16 Espionage/information and value: Now the spies can use this information i have gained from the iridium and sell it to another race, depending on what it is and affect other aspects of the game, if cleverly used to someones advantegs.
(also the information can become outdate meaning (certain scenarios such as ship Count can decide if a race will go to war or not)
Meaning keeping accurate information all the time, will a lot more value if its updated, in order to gain trust from the buyer of this information and affect diplomacy With that race, if its to old, or the information is false and you are discoverd, you loss trust from other buyers.
(if its found out by another, spy on a operation to confirm intel or information on a planet, and use it against you.)
My opinion of why i see this to reasonable in Logic. (conclusion)
So it woulde be great if People woulde stat their opinion, about this idea, to see if it is ,somthing many may want from the diplomacy systems, but not sure exatly what woulde work and be fun.
so in a way this solves this problem where there are 100 Al and one player, by limiting how how often you can use diplomacy is decided by the diplomats instead of saying i can talk to everybody Without any special builded up relations.
(they are aliens and you dont know anything about them, so obvius Things such as Learning about them and their culture lifestyle is vital to communicate correctly, thats why diplomats has this role, so you dont offend them and say somthing rude, without knowing it.
(you need a front where you can impress them while not getting shot at because you dont know their culture and their ways.)
