Roll back out of 1.1?

Just wondering if we are able to roll back out of a patch, for example the 1.1 which is entirely opt in. Are we able to roll back to a previous  patch or is a complete reinstall in order?

It apparently depends. 

 

Some people are able to just switch off the opt-in, and it'll download the different files. This is basically how it should work. However, sometimes steam just screws it up and refuses outright to validate properly. Then you're stuck with a re-install. It's been the same with each opt-in - people have reported both. The problem appears to be at steams end, so there's not much SD can do about it.

There is differences in the custom factions, I don't know if they will be backwards compatible.

So if I opt out of 1.1 all of the beautiful factions i DL'd may not show up correct?

 

If I copy those factions and set em on the Desktop and opt out and repaste them in they 'should' show up I would imagine.

I don't know, like I said the faction files are different now, they include an image file (which most likely is just for the workshop itself) and they include another secondary file that previous to 1.1 they didn't.  With that being said I don't know if the actual faction file has changed.  So like I said the factions from 1.1 may not be backwards compatible.

I tried this with 1.03 I managed to stop the initial download and opted out to stay at 1.02 BUT Steam had other ideas and downloaded 1.03 while I was online doing something else and when I asked about reverting to 1.02 got basically told tough your stuck with it.This is why I didn't opt in to the trial 1.1 as I wanted to see what it threw up? I'm glad I didn't.

I downgrade using win restore (be sure to turn off opt-in).

In turns of custom factions, so far I've been having a lot of luck moving items between 1.03 and 1.1, deleting a faction is an entirely different story in 1.0.3

 

That said, 1.1's annoying missing custom-ship bug is driving me nuts... I have to built all the 'hyperion buildings' and some of my ship 'MAY' show up...  I am sure a bug has been filed on it already... I can only hope they will fix it with the official 1.1 release
