When ships and/or fleets are stacked in the same hex how is it decided which defends against an attack?
Bumping, Devs, players any idea?
I don't know, but I got shafted by this once when I had a transport group and a defending fleet on the same hex, only to see the transports get blown up.
Yeah, this is an issue. Not knowing how to either set it or how it is decided.
Long, long ago it did some testing and no matter what you do, the AI can pick which fleet to attack. Build order of the ships, nor creation order of the fleet, nor arrival order in the tile seem to make any difference.
I mentioned this in a dev stream and Paul said "Don't worry about this, the battle dialogs are just place holders. We're going to overhaul the combat interface when the battle viewer comes in, and in the future this should not happen.". And that was either during the alpha or Beta 1.
Overhaul right, and that overhaul is schedule for patch 1.09 lol. I also sent a fleet into a pirate fleet, only to find out I had a loose ship on that same hex and it selected that ship instead of the fleet. DOH!
