For those of us who specialize our planets, we often find ourselves in the planetary Govern screen messing with the production wheel. There's little value in using the Global production settings for a planet that is 70% research labs. To maximize specialized planet production there is a lot of micromanagement. I have an idea that could alleviate that, offering a powerful tool for power users, and perhaps even the AI! I think this is an idea for a post-release patch. It's too much to do by release, but not big enough for DLC/expansion.
I'd like to create custom production specialization profiles, and be able to easily apply that profile to multiple planets. For the following example, these are just sample numbers. People would want to customize the actual values.
I create a profile that is 80/0/20-34/66 (manufacturing/research/wealth-social/military) that I can apply to a Manufacturing specialized planet once it is mature. Or 0/100/0-50/50 to a research specialized planet. Let's say I have 5 such research planets, but I need to temporarily add some manufacturing to all of them after researching a research upgrade tech. Here are three ways I'd like to be able to handle it, it would be great if you implemented them all:
-- I could modify the existing profile to, say 35/65/0-100/0, thus changing the production of those 5 planets. Downside: some planets might finish before others, thus wasting specialization.
-- I could have a different profile at 35/65/0-100/0, and apply it to those 5 planets. Downside: I'd have to manually switch them back one-by-one as production completed.
-- Optimally, planets would automatically switch to the 35/65/0-100/0 profile while upgrading, then each planet individually automatically goes back to the 0/0/100-50/50 profile after it completed upgrading all of its research facilities.
I think one cool thing about my suggestion is that the AI could also make use of it, making the AI smarter about how it develops and specializes planets.
