Completely non Stardock/game related question..looking for a book..

I cant remember for the life of me but I am looking for a Fantasy story and the main character was a woman and she wielded a sword. At the end of the sword was a 'void'.

 

I cant remember who the female author was, but the novel(s) were in the 70's and 80's.

 

Again it was fantasy and the main character I think was female and she wielded a sword that had a void/ or singularity on the end of it. 

 

I figured our community would probably nail it really fast....

Just as an FYI, I posted this over on the Star Wars forums and found my answer. It was C.J. Cherryh's Morgaine series from the 70's. 

 

I was going to pick this series up at the library....
