My latest ship the Lamprey.  A fast and nimble raider.

If anything the nacelles might be one section too long, but they are supposed to be bright and blinggy... It's the Federation, for crying out loud.

Nah, the nacelles are fine.

Some fighters fresh from the asylum.

Sadist
(Beam fighter craft)

Fast, precise, sharp and armed to shred your opponent to ribbons, for the pilot that likes to cut something.

Madman
(Kinectic fighter craft)

The Exterior superstructure plating is supposed to compensate for its lack of armor, but no pilot has ever returned from battle to confirm whether this actually works. Only mad men take this ship into battle, thereby giving rise to the ships name.

Stabber
(Missile fighter craft)

Why close in on your enemy when you can launch self guided missiles and stay out of range? And watch him die at your leisure.

Indeceisive Manic
(Combination fighter craft)

When you can't make up your mind what kind of weapon you want, why not take them all?

Voyeur
(Scout fighter craft)

Some simply like to watch. Now with improved X-ray vision which allows you to see your subjects hidden parts.

Thecw very nice, more proof that small and tiny ships can be designed infinitely better in GD3

Overkill
(Large combination ship)

You can never have too many weapons. The Overkill takes this philosophy to its extreme.

Overseer
(Large sensor ship)

When you absolutely, positively have an undeniable need for battle oversight.

Launchpad
(Large carrier)

Also known as the flying air field. The Launchpad has a massive amount of flightdeck, but severely lacks in the weapons department.

Thecw very nice designs, it's kinda fun to go back to the start of this thread to see the beginnings transform to these magnificent beasts.

Edladner,

I like your Nyl, especially the various turrets.

End of Edladner's quote

Ah, the simpler days of yesteryear. The distant past of early 2014, when we were young and ignorant of the things that were to come for the intrepid ship designer. B)

PS:

Ed, if you think they look good in the screenshots, you should see them in the game. You can look inside the flight decks of the Launchpad (when the doors are open). I even made sure when someone does that the inside really looks nice.

I have shuttle and fighter parts for including in bays and such, but like the others they crash the game.  A fix can't come quick enough for me, 90% of my fleet is sidelined till then.

A new spy ship

So, I've been quietly watching the ships go by while wishing I had more time... but little by little I've been building and I have three new ships. I must say that picking apart some of Rand's ships really pushed me in a new, and I think better, ship-building direction.

In any case. Here is the first of the set of three ships: a medium hull corvette.

And here are all three together. I'm really pleased with both the continuity and subtle differentiation between the three... Anyhow, I welcome any comments.

My jaw literally dropped when I saw your new ships. They came out awesome!!!!

Glad I was able to help you steer yourself in a new direction with ideas from my ship designs.

WOW!!!!!

Thanks Rand! I actually built the first two from sketches I had done a few weeks ago. But when I saw the number of components you use, and the way you manipulate them, I felt a lot more freedom to create the shapes I want...
