Elemental: War of Magic v1.11 out

Sometimes good things come in very small packages. v1.11 is pure AI and bug fixing.  Grab it now. I think you’ll be pleased.

And we are all too busy playing to reply to the frog :)

I'd say from a "fun" point of view, v1.11 is almost as significant as v1.09 to v1.1 but that might be because I'm an AI guy.

I'm already on v1.12 as there are some stupid sovereign stuff I saw last night that cost the AI the game. But it's good to see the AI doing some rather nasty stuff magically on the strategic map.

I am *hoping* to be able to take over some of the AI on tactical battles but that really depends on how my "day job" work goes this quarter on our main business projects.

Small packages??? This was a 1.91Gb download, and I was only upgrading from the previous 1.1 patch.

My internet subscription has a monthly download limit, so I can't say I was too pleased about that.

All my sov and unit designs from 1.1 are unavailable. All video/audio/game options were reset to their default values.

Not what I expected from a minor patch!

It's an Impulse issue I think. There's a thread that discusses it. For most people, it's only a 3 megabyte download.

Was the Sov talent that allows units to move at same speed of Sov (Organized?) re-added to the custom Sov maker?

Saw it right when I got home. Downloading! :)

frogboy, on one of my FOUR elemental machines it was  only 4.26mb as an upgrade from 1.1d, BUT on the other THREE machines it was 1.91GB EACH, and all four had been verifies & running 1.1/1.1d, and have posted details in the impulse size download thread.

Is there a post that list all the new changes found in v1.11?

Thanks in advance:blush:

This is ridiculous.  It's one thing that there are problems updating with all those beta patches for 1.1, when things were changing every day.  To have the problem of a 1.99 GB update (even after verifying, or closing and reopening Impulse) from 1.1 to 1.11 is just a little bit silly.

Have you been working hard on fixing this very big bug?  It certainly makes the "compare current version and new version's files" update system a lot harder to like.

Best regards,
Steven.

One suggestion I have is that you can have Impulse check your install versus the server. Just right click and choose the check installation (or something like that).

For what it's worth, I (accidentally) fixed the update issue myself by running the game's launcher, quitting from that, then checking back on Impulse to find the normal sized update had replaced the huge one.

That option disappeared some time ago. I miss it. (I think the verb on the menu was Verify.)

p.s. The update was the 'small version' for me, although the Preparing phase was oddly long. Best thing was that the game launches successfully on my rig again. I can bitch 'til the cows come home on design points, but I can also testify that y'all are solidly reliable bug crushers in the long term.

Unfortunately I fall in the category of 1.9 gig download for the minor patch :/

Hello all.

I am filled with despair.

I bought E:WoM when it first came out, eagerly installed it...

...and it didn't work.  The lovely "dude with dragon" screen came up with its cool quill cursor...

...and stayed ... and stayed ... and stayed.

ALT-ESC did nothing.  CTRL-ALT-DEL was worthless.  Had to restart the computer.  I played East India Company and actually spent time with my family for awhile.

I updated to V 1.1, and it worked!  I've played it for days.  My son has forgotten what I actually look like.

Today, an update was available.  Huzzah!  I updated to v. 1.11 and fired it up...

The lovely "dude with dragon" screen came up with its cool quill cursor...

...and stayed ... and stayed ... and stayed.

Thus, despair.

Is there any way I can go back to v 1.1?  Vacation ends soon, and I just want to play this cool game.

Thanks.

(Yes, I sign my posts.  I'm old.)

I did notice this happens occasionally. Usually I'm able to kill it though and it works the second time.

is the AI better than 1.1d?

Thanks Frog and SD!  I'm excited to dig in to this new patch.

the ai is better than 1.1d because frog looked at weird behaviour that 1.1d ai did and tweaked that to make this versions ai.

The verify option only appears now if you hold the 'shift' key while right-clicking on the game entry. The modifier was added as there is potential for accidently verifying a third-party game, which could result in data loss. Verification is really only for Stardock games and applications.
