I am new player and I have Mernaries expansion pack. However, when I go to multiplayer I can't join players who have it as well. What am I doing wrong?

It's probably something trivial
I played around a bit and I couldn't make it happen on purpose, so I have no idea how you made it happen by accident.
You might get better response with a ticket to Stardock. I don't know what to tell you.
