A couple month ago, Gal Civ 3 was crashing after the intro movie on my Surface Pro 4 (with latest intel hd 520 drivers provided by Microsoft). I see a similar issue posted on the Intel forums: https://communities.intel.com/thread/103280 The solution included in the post (downgrade to older drivers, suggested by Stardock) is not an option, as it will break other titles.
My question is (as I don't have the game installed atm) - was the issue fixed in the latest patches (1.8)? Is the game running with the latest Intel drivers (Version: 15.40.25.4463 Date: 6/17/2016 or newer) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26078/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40- ?
Thank you.
I have HD4600 10.18... drivers and it runs fine. I wonder if there's any reason to go for 15.36...drivers. The whole process left bad taste in my mouth last time I tried to update.
Looking at Stardock support (https://esupport.stardock.com/index.php?/default_import/Knowledgebase/Article/View/496/161/general-galactic-civilizations-iii-troubleshooting#GraphicIssues) I think the issue only happens with the 6th generation Intel CPUs (Skylake). HD4600 is the 4th generation, so it should not be affected.
