As requested by some users, I have updated and enhanced the Asterit Crystal faction, one of the finalists in the faction design contest.
I have requested Nexusmods to add a caetgory for GalCiv 3 and you can now download the Asterit Crystals there.
Asterit Crystals are a superintelligence formed out of the hyper crystals on planet Astera. Hypnotic powers allow the Asterit to gain control over spacefaring species within their reach.
Billions of years ago when the Telenanth crystal was shattered, a hyper shock wave was sent throughout the galaxy. When this hyperwave passed the planet Astera, it resonated with the crystals of Astera. Millions of years later, the first crystals oscillating with hyper energy became conscious of themselves and their surroundings.
Asterit crystals have learned to master hypnotic powers to force any spacefaring species passing through their system to support the Asterit. Their ultimate goal is to find the source of the hyper shock wave, the shards of Telenanth.
Asterit crystals have no concept of good or evil nor do they understand personal freedom. As a superintelligence all Asterit crystals are linked together into one matrix, focusing on the same goals.
