Comment: Late game in many (most) 4x games can degenerate into boring mop up.
Question for Paul: What are Stardock's thoughts on keeping the late game interesting?
One way we could help late game is to have new minor race(s) show up letting us be the helper or devestator.
Another way would be to have tech allow you to go beyond the Milkyway and discover other Civs and one want to control the entire Universe so you have a new war/problem to deal with.
i feel that new minor civs would just add to the clean up and unless a new major civ showed up with a greater amount of power to what i have it will simply be another race to mop up
I asked in another thread about modded buildings and the AI, I want to mod in robotic factories that can be build on terraformable tiles and have a set output. The responses I got from other players was that the AI will not use these buildings. However I started thinking about how Paul talked about AI behavior will be affected by attributes to make them more or less aggressive in different ways. Will players be able to mod those as well and could those attributes be used to get the AI to use modded buildings correctly? If not could you tell us a bit more about how that aspect of the AI will work?

Game is looking great so far, when is beta 3 planned to come out? what are you hoping to put in beta 3? What is the plan for fleet combat? how will weapon accuracy, speed, and range etc work?
beta 3 is the combat patch where most of those questions will be answered it is supposed to be released in december
