You didn't say if internal or external. If internal, your friend will need to make sure there is an available USB pinheader on the motherboard. and also, 3.5 or 5.25 bay size. Also, USB 2.0 or 3.0 I've had this one LINK for a couple years now and works great for the money. It gets mixed reviews but I had no trouble at all with it on Vista or Win 7/64. The only issue is that the SD card slots are upside-down. I have used it with up to 8GB SD cards with no issues.
