Difference in AI from Entrenchment to Diplomacy?

I currently am playing entrenchment and prefer more single player games then multiplayer.  With that said and the supposed improvements to the AI in diplo, to do those they have upgraded have you noticed a difference in the AI when upgrading?  If so, has it made the AI smarter/harder to play against?

The AI is better, and it builds less siege frigs.

I have also seen that you can increase the diffculty of the AI, not sure how much more different than before since there isn't a Trek mod for Diplomacy but it can get pretty brutal.

I played against Cruel AI, and it already started sending ships to bomb within 5 minutes or so

Also the missions and the diplomacy is more interactive than before
